2. Good thoughts in the speech.

I especially liked the sentiments in part 5.

But I wanted to mention something I noticed that I did when watching the speech. And it is not just about this speech it is about almost all times when you listen to what someone else is saying. When he said something that inspired thought. My mind, and I am sure many of yours also, drifted to think on the point made, and then missed a few words said.

Also when side panel opened, I found that I was reading that instead of listening.

So I go back, and listen to speech again. Not just for this speech, but for all conveying of information. Because listening is imperfect, and has to be given effort.

One of the huge advantages of the Internet over tv is we can pause or listen many times to make up for the limitation of the mind that wants to correlate and process. We can pause, and think on things then resume to best actually listen. This can also remove the ability of methods of distraction to keep our mind on something else.

I would guess journalist that will comment on the speech, stop and listen to parts more then once. If we want to be as informed, or able to think on what journalist will say about the speech, we have to put some of that same effort into listening that they do.

Lots of thoughtful arguments made, many I agree with, a couple that might be against some of my thoughts, and many that are the same perspective and with what I think of as the same strength. Which makes listening all the more fun and usefull, because I get to see where agreements and differences or chips can inspire thought.

:)
