MSNBC anchor David Shuster calls Fox News Channel "disgraceful" on a recent interview with progressive radio host Stephanie Miller on her radio show. "It's insanity over there," he says. "The stuff that comes out of Sean Hannity's mouth has been infuriating."

Transcript (Stephanie's lines are in parentheses):

You know Fox is, I mean, I can go on and on and on about Fox. I mean, I think their approach to this has been - I mean, look, if Fox wants to consider themselves the GOP house organ, thats fine. Then, they completely backed it up. When Fox starts describing themselves as journalists or a news organization, thats where I think its appropriate to describe Fox as disgraceful.

(Right...)

I mean, the set of rules, the set of standards that Fox pretends to try to follow - I mean, I dont even know where to begin with Fox. Its just insanity.

(Right...)

If you want to make an argument that, look, President Obama is socialist, prove it. Taking the tax rate for the wealthy from 36 to 39 (percent), is that socialist?

(Right...)

Trying to, you know, save the banks by giving them more capital, money that the government is going to get back, is that socialist? Trying to lower health care, I mean, it doesn't make any sense.

(Yeah, exactly, and I love Bill O'Reilly was screaming that no one from Fox got to ask a question? We were like, yeah, well, maybe if you carried the news conference... it might have been more that likely... No, go ahead...)

No, I was just going to say, Fox has just been brutal. I mean, their coverage on the Fox News Channel has been atrocious. The stuff that comes out of Sean Hannity's mouth has been infuriating. The stuff that Bill O'Reilly says has been illogical. You go up and down the schedule, and it's insanity over there. And, you know, you can say, the American people, maybe the American people deserve some of the blame for being not so well informed about the issues of the day, and that's fine. But there's a problem when news organizations deliberately or intentionally mislead people and misinform the public and get them to think that, "Oh, Iraq was part of 9/11" when, no. I mean, you go up and down the list at the number of lies, perpetuated -- promoted by Fox News is just shameful and it hurts everybody...

(That being said, David, I think -- certainly Glenn Beck has taught journalists like you a thing or two that being weepier and crazier would certainly benefit you.)

Oh my God, well, I was weeping when he started -- I was weeping when he started showing pictures of, you know, Nazi Germany marches, I mean, some of us actually have reliatives who, you know, perished in World War II, and when a guy like Glenn Beck starts to make the argument that, "Oh, we're now toward fascism," never mind that's just insane, it also diminishes the real impact of what fascism was to so many American families 60, 70 years ago, and that's where it just makes me crazy.

(Yeah, absolutely...)

13. Fascism and socialism can't coexist at the same point.
Extreme left of Democrats is Socialism, Extreme right is Fascism. It can't be both. (can't remember where communism sits.)

Took at least 2 of these political graphs in college and historically I think according to one graph. split into 4 quarters. It had socialism as true left, and Democrats right of center then Republicans then way way over to the right Hitler.

Now given how things have swung around the past 9 years, this might have changed. But saying Democrats are both socialist and fascist at the SAME time makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Had my dumb dad the other day proclaiming what a Genius Glenn Beck is. Brainwashed that man is now. Once upon a time Fox was a trustworthy news source. At least during the day. But everything on that channel now is all opinion. Bunch of angry white guys (and gals) full of the most vile hate I've ever seen. Like having a 24/7 channel on KKK Rallies.

28. My mom is that way about insanity
I asked her once 'what happened to you? You're college educated. You once possessed critical reasoning skills. Where did that go?' She looked at me like I was from another planet.

40. Depends... whether you're talking government or economics.
Mussolini coined the term "Fascism". And what he meant by that is government run by corporations.

THAT is what we have now.

We can't deny that.

43. I think it would be fairer to say that fascism represented a political fusion....
of extreme right nationalism and militarism with more-or-less lefty social democracy in the the economic sphere. Happily, social democracy does not depend on an authoritarian or belligerent political order.

he talked about how his mother wonder how he lasted 2 years working for those jerks. He stated that was the best career move he ever made by leaving that right wing propaganda network.

41. Thanks for posting- Stephanie is absolutely gorgeous,
really smart, and has a first class team. (I listen every day.) I prefer the spelling: dogues, which would fit her new baby I think. Shuster has been on my pay-attention-to list for a while now. Whatever happened to the fake news network, can anyone pinpoint the year it switched to R wing propaganda 24/7? Well, I thank all of you.

20. As I recall
It was Howard Dean who aptly labeled Pox (deliberate typo) News the propaganda arm of the Republican Party. He was also the first high profile Democrat to call Bush on the ill conceived Iraq invasion and occupation. When he said the United States was not anymore safe with Saddam Hussein in captivity than before capture most spineless Democratic politicians shuddered in fear.
Pox is the last vestige of Nazi propaganda started by Josef Goebbels.

There are plenty of older folk out there who would be receptive to the message, but not if it's delivered in like, you know, bad valleyspeak.

21. Fox is so hung up on ratings, it's got to keep them all on edge
They are dancing as fast as they can, and they can't afford to stop. That has got to bring on major stress. MSNBC isn't as concerned about numbers and ratings, they jsut want to get the news out. I'm sure it is a much more pleasant and low key place to work.

to see a debate between journalists and extremely
knowledgeable political science people vs. buffoons.

on one of their programs. Either that, or fill a one hour time slot dedicated to exposing them daily. ;)

My how far we've come in just eight years. There was a time when GE owned MSNBC promoted the war with Iraq.
