This week the President recaps a busy week, from strides on fiscal discipline, to financial stability, to cracking down on tax havens and tax breaks for shifting jobs overseas.

For his next big step, he calls for a credit card reform bill: "Americans know that they have a responsibility to live within their means and pay what they owe. But they also have a right to not get ripped off by the sudden rate hikes, unfair penalties, and hidden fees that have become all-too common in our credit card industry." Watch Your Weekly Address to find out what he plans to do about it.

1. This is the most encouraging talk of Obama's administration.
Sounds like Obama is starting to deal with a few of the issues that affect ordinary people. Thanks, Mr. President.

Now -- will you please work with your Attorney General and Congress to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the torture, the cover-up of the torture tapes and the violations of FISA by the Bush administration -- and then regulate Wall Street and hedge funds.

Then you can rest easy, hopefully. Great job.

2. If you tend not to watch the "fireside chats", I encourage watching this one.
I admit, I tend not to watch the vids.

I'm so glad I watched this one. It is EXCELLENT, and a wonderful affirmation of why I voted for Professor President Obama.

"American Institutions need to follow the same ethics of responsibility that American individuals do."

...OK, that was a paraphrase, but it is just one of many clear statements of common sense and fairplay that we have been hungering for these past many decades as we watched the profit motive going haywire and regulations reigning in offenders gleefully tossed into the Repuke Morality Shredder.

3. Such common-sense is unfortunately very uncommon. That was excellent.
Will the credit card industry ... banks again!!! ... pour millions into Washington DC again to defeat any effort at making *them* responsible? Stay tuned to watch American predators protect their hunting ground.
