Why listen?
I like my representives telling me what I like to hear while then going and giving Bush 50 Billion more dollars of no strings attached money to continue the Iraq occupation.
I like my representatives collaborating with the Bush administration to pen secret back room trade deals when they already have us choking down an 800 billion dollar trade deficit.
I like my representatives to authorize war and then make excuses about how they were fooled and didnt really mean it..
No ... wait ... I dont like that at all!
I want to hear from someone that isnt a liar.

1. I can't watch the video (very slow dialup), but I've given your post a recommend.

I totally disagree with Ron Paul on many issues, but I've been following his speeches and statements for almost 6 years now. There is nothing our country needs more right now than people getting media attention while are speaking the truth

The media is having fun with him because he comes off as so outrageous -- "look what this nutball is saying!" -- but he's not an idiot, and I'm glad he's shaking things up.

2. He's just incredible on this issue
I hope people will vote for who they agree with and ignore the talking heads that try to discredit him. No one elected them to anything.

3. Here's why the GOP hates Ron Paul: He's going to split the party.
Edited on Sun May-20-07 10:34 PM by file83
He already is. He's from Texas - conservatives all over the south are starting to pay more attention to him. The more popularity he gains, the greater the threat to an already weak GOP.

That may get balanced by the fact Ron Paul is starting to gain the attention of a lot of Democrats too. So, basically, the entire power base in Washington wants this "anomoly" removed from the entire scene. He's screwing up all their carefully calculated formulas.

Rock on Ron Paul!

4. Bravo to Ron Paul...he is the republican whirlwind and he will be
...in it to the very end. He is speaking to grassroots American people issues that are concerns to the majority of voters of both parties and if he ends up being the third party presidential candidate he'll take votes from both sides. Right now he is the big thorn in the reThuglican foot

5. Ron Paul makes the other candidates look like the lying sacks of shit that they are,
That is why they need to silence him. On a whole spectrum of issues, the GOP has to walk a tightrope stretched between courting the all important base and getting a respectable number of votes in a general election. They have to talk "no abortion" and yet remember that the average American wants to keep her right to choose. They have to talk "continue a tough foreign policy" even though the average American wants us out of Iraq. They have to come across as dicks to keep the Reich Wing happy--but look like nice guys for everyone else.

This makes them all look like a bunch of phonies.

Since Ron Paul isnt really trying to win, he is free to speak the truth, and throws the hypocrisy of the rest of then in stark relief.

6. More views on DU than on youtube!
That's kind of cool! Thanks for posting this...I agree, he and Gravel are very refreshing with that not-liar stuff! They should run together!

What the hell is he doing in the GOP???

7. Zing!
After the Clinton impeachment circus, I swore I would never vote for another Republican again, but Ron Paul does make me ponder that decision. If he somehow ends up on the ticket in November '08, it will be a hard choice. Along with Kucinich, he stands as a paragon of honesty in a field of dissemblers. Unfortunately for them, honesty is not necessarily a presidential trait. :evilfrown:

10. He is right on Iraq, but he is no progressive, so a vote for him would
be a vote against all the progressive New Deal programs that we want to protect. I want him to stay in the race and tell truth, but I would not vote for him under any circumstacnes, even though I admire his honesty.

11. I definitely don't agree with him on any economic issues
But if, hypothetically, there was a Ron Paul vs. Joe Lieberman contest...well, I sure wouldn't vote for Lieberman.

I'm not going to mention which of the current Democratic contenders I might consider comparable to Lieberman. No flame wars for me, thanks. :hide:

12. Rudy was such a sniveling, pandering fuckstick in that clip,
he prefaces every goddamn answer with "I was in New York on 9/11", or something to that effect. If it weren't for him coincidentally being mayor of NYC on 9/11, Rudy would be a nobody.
