1. Where is the heat and energy coming from that continually puts
out this sort of flamboyant display, millions upon millions upon millions of years? Seems to me things should have cooled down a bit in 4 billion years... but it hasn't, if anything it has heated up. Thermodynamics experts chime in.

2. Gravity and radioactivity.
From http://www.seismo.unr.edu/ftp/pub/louie/class/100/interior.html "The Earth, the Sun, and the rest of the solar system, was formed 4.54 billion years ago by accretion from a rotating disk of dust and gas. The immense amount of heat energy released from gravitational energy and from the decay of radioactive elements melted the entire planet, and it is still cooling off today."

They say the Earth's core is still 4300 degrees C. The compression due to gravity and continuing decay of heavy radioactive elements, which mostly sink deep into the Earth, still produces heat today.

The mantle, only 1000 deg. C. slowly circulates. Hotter parts near the core slowly rise. Cooler rock near the surface slowly sinks. This slow circulation involves masses that dwarf whole continents, and move the continents on the surface. (The surface is really very small by comparison. A few miles thick vs. over a thousand miles thick.) This is why the science fiction stories that suggest using nuclear weapons to stop earthquakes are silly. The energies involved in driving seismic events would shrug off nuclear weapons like mosquito bites.

So, it's just hot rocks, like in a sauna. Lots of rock, though. Billions of tons. Sort of like your personal debt compared to AIG's debt.

3. I am no expert but this is part of the cooling process.
hot magma coming to the surface and forming new land mass.
But I think there is heat being generated by the rotation of the earth and by the pressure of gravity.

4. There is also another theory, but the Scientists are too afraid of it
I actully started on a career in Geology many years ago, but it didn't turn out to be my end profession. However, I ran across this web site last year and I think it deserves to be considered.

http://www.nealadams.com/nmu.html

Check out the excellent videos presented on the Expanding Earth theory. As we move from Wauntum Physics to the more chaotic String Theory, perhaps it is time to review the assumptions that have been made prior to this, and have been taught as gospel to all of us over the years.

I have to admit that his computer animations speak for themselves.

The Radioactive decay assumption for internal core heat has never been proven or verified. If this were the case, would not radiation be everywhere, and miners see it increase the deeper they go? How about volcano's, would they not occasionally spew deep earth radioactivity onto the surface?

5. That reminds me of an addled creationist trying to refute evolution.
He doesn't understand it so he attempts to replace it with something he thinks he does but all it amounts to is a descent into absurdity and the requisite accusations that mainstream science is afraid of his idea.

7. Sounds like ad hominem attack to me.
Do you have anything of SUBSTANCE to add to the discussion?

6. The gravity make heat people fail to explain where the energy
comes from that makes the heat. You can't get something for nuthin', but when discussing gravitational it seems we get a gift card so to speak. I have read the Final Theory, and the guy ain't no dummy. I wonder if the shuttle requires constant thruster activity in order to keep the bay doors facing the earth... if not, why not.

8. I couldn't read the whole thing
so I'm not sure if the answer to this was in there - if the earth is expanding, where is the new matter coming from? Or is the earth hollowing out?

9. And we humans love to believe we're in control of the world.

Events like that have a real way of putting us in our place.
