He needs to do more than a Mia culpa for what he did to Kerry and Gore.

pull punches.

5. Typical right wing repug......"what, me to blame??"
Is it just the powerful, or the rich, or the shallow of soul?? These fucktards, none of them, can admit they made a TERRIBLE mistake. Hell, they can't even admit they made a little mistake.

I have zero respect for this old fuck head. He, single handedly, torpedoed John Kerry and his opportunity to prevent the idiot from being president of the once most powerful and prosperous nation in the world. With his f*cking lies, he managed to slander a good man and turn him into a coward and traitor to the American zombies.

pickens is a piece of shit. He deserves to be held accountable for his treachery, just like the rest of his ilk. An old man, trying to make his last bucks off wind energy DOES NOT MAKE HIM SOME SORT OF HERO. He will always be the ONE MAN responsible for sucking bush's boonie and defaming a war hero into a traitor.

Zero respect for this pathetic wind bag from TX. ZERO!!

6. OK, GWB was not a oil man...
He was a total failure at that just as he was a failure at everything he did. As we all know and maybe America is waking up to this, his greatest failure was his presidency and this time it is not Poppy's rich friends who are going to bail him out but it is going to be you and me.

OK, the congregation may be seated.

7. Somehow I don't trust his "grass roots" call. I'd like to believe he's sincere in his 10 second
turned 38 seconds at the end, but I can't. The guy has been the typical "it's all about me" Republican. Now suddenly he's changed to "it's all about you"....I don't think so - just can't buy it.

9. Exactly
It is all about the money and how much the government subsidizes his program. He said he is out of politics, BS, he gave to the Repub. party of Georgia, and both Dem parties in New Mexico and Colorado trying to buy votes for his power grab. link

To many Dems are falling into his trap, including Al Gore, when will they learn that slimebags like him can't be trusted.

10. This wind energy is not free.
One day the folks of the south east will wake up and realize they have been robbed of their weather pattern thanks to the a-holes in Texas installing so many wind turbines. Has anyone looked into this? Energy is not free, the moon slows down the earth and wind farms will take energy from the weather.

11. I assume you don't even have a passing knowledge of basic physics...
Edited on Sat Mar-07-09 02:44 PM by liberation
Are you aware of the amount of wind mills you would need to use in order to even affect the weather patterns slightly?

Just because this Pickens feller is an a-hole, doesn't mean you need to trash wind energy. Jeez...

19. well that is why you do not assume.
I have a PhD in physics. What I asked is whether this has been thought about. Are you so willing to let the same people who run the current energy fiasco (read corporations) go wild with out some smart people thinking things through? A city like Phoenix can change the local weather patterns due its heat island effect. If we put enough wind turbines across the plains of Texas then we are bound to cause regional differences. And for the record, I am not trashing wind energy, I am asking who has thought this out.

20. Just to follow up
This is not a new question. There is actually research in this area already and it is interesting (see http://www.meteorologynews.com/2009/01/03/could-windmil... /). The relevant portion is:

"Scientists Daniel Barrie and Daniel Kirk-Davidoff of the University of Maryland have shown that installation of a massive wind farm covering the bulk of the central United States into central Canada would effectively steal energy from the atmosphere. As anyone who has studied basic physics may recall, in a closed system such as the Earths atmosphere, energy is conserved, that is, it cannot be created or destroyed. As air flows through the blades of a gigantic, 300-foot wind turbine tower, the wind energy turns the blades. This energy is robbed from the atmosphere, effectively slowing the wind speed proportionally. The greater the array of wind turbines, the more energy is removed from the atmospheric flow and the slower the ambient wind will travel. Slowing wind speeds by 5 or 6 miles per hour - while it sounds negligible, could have significant impacts on the large-scale atmospheric flow and yield consequences we do not yet understand."

See (http://www.atmos.umd.edu/~dankd/Windfarms.html ).

So next time, before you spout off about someones knowledge, maybe you should stop and think.

12. Question
Was he a part of the swiftboat gang? I really don't know the answer.

If he was, I would never be able to trust him fully, no matter how much sense he seems to make right now.

13. He was the main financial backer of the "swifboat veterans for nonsense" in the 04 elections...
He even made a public bet that he would publicly apologize and donate $1 million to charity if the swiftboat claims were proven wrong. Plenty of people have come with evidence and proof regarding how full of sh*t Mr. Pickens was. He has thus far refused to apologize or donate the money to charity.

He is an asshole, who figured out there was plenty of money to be made in renewable energy, and now he is conducting his own crusade campaign to get the Federal government to subsidize most of his investments in wind energy. F*ck him and the horse he rode on...

14. By the end of that interview I wanted to throw up.
He is the most disingenuous piece of garbage since Rudy exploited 9/11. When he claimed 'we can't drill our way out' as his, I nearly threw a shoe at the TV. He stole that line from Sen. Kerry, the man he slandered, who had been saying it repeatedly since at least 2004.

Transcript from The Daily Show, Aug 24, 2004

JOHN KERRY: The its the most extraordinary thing in the world. United States has three percent of the worlds oil reserves. We import 61 percent of our oil. There is no possible way for us to drill our way out this crisis. We have to invent our way out of it. We have to invent our way out of it by moving to alternatives, to renewables, to fuel efficient vehicles. To biomass, bio
