Dr. Ada Fisher, the only other black person in the RNC, on Rachel Maddow calling for Michael Steele to resign after a grand total of what... 35 days in office??

My only hope is that Steele doesn't bear the entire brunt of this fiasco. The Republican Party should be every bit as humiliated by its simple-minded chairman and should not be allowed to make a scapegoat of Steele whom we all know only became RNC Chair because he was the right color... err.. man for the job.

We know how interchangeable black people are... to Republicans anyway...

1. Maddow usually works my last nerve with her "cutesy-ness" but she is HILARIOUS here
As for Steele, that man's cluelessness knows no bounds. "Slum love??" A company named "Brown Sugar??" I give him a month... 6 weeks tops...

2. Michele Bachmann
As Steele concluded his remarks, Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann -- the event's moderator -- told Steele he was "da man."

"Michael Steele! You be da man! You be da man," she said.

Great humor!

3. Republicans are so willing to look past ineptitude that as long as one smears a dem, they're in.
Jut one look at Steele should tell all... without even going back to his deceitful corrupt reputation of stolen funds or mis representing himself to get elected (tried to make people think he was a black dem candidate by association by sending fliers of him with other black dem candidates saying it's time to elect these leaders as if he were a dem. Sounds par for this dimwitted bastard huh)

9. R's like her are the only way that party will survive-
Sadly for her, but thankfully for us they don't want people like her. She doesn't "Match" what they are presenting.

Out of curiosity I read her info page-
The medical page is a little convoluted you may want to read the whole thing for yourself.
http://www.dradamfisher.org/healthcare.asp

Some quotes directly from her site:

Her Energy view:

(QUOTE)
What's Ailing Us? - We Need A Rational Energy Policy

The dependency on oil by this and other nations is creating a pricing run up as more limited easy access supplies dwindle. China has over 1.3 billion people, India over 1.1 billion and this nation approaches almost 300 million, all of whom are increasingly "addicted to oil."

The depots for oil include locations in more pristine environs such as Alaska, more remote regions such as the artic sections of Russia, the more volatile nations of Africa, or in rock formations which require technology such as slant drilling and more off-shore drilling. The issue for the next decades is pay now or pay later. If we fail to invest in alternative fuels now we may potentially create a vast wasteland of death and destruction due to oil wars, storage depots which can become terrorist targets or rapings of the earth.
(END QUOTE)

An R that is all for renewable energy over oil? Whoa.

Gun control in a nutshell:

(QUOTE)
I have always stated that I support the rights of individuals to bear arms as long as they don't point them at me. I stand by that position.
(END QUOTE)

Illegal immigration:

There's only one part that really surprised me. It was this "I do not support amnesty or a guest worker program when we have locked up non-violent criminals who could have alternative sentencing for this work."

A Repub who wants to take nonviolent prisoners and release them to work? Has the world turned upside-down? Am I in an alternate universe? Pinch me.

...
...
...........:puke: Then we get to why she's an R.

(QUOTE)
The failure of the US Senate to pass the Marriage Amendment speaks poorly for legislator’s appreciation for this institution, which goes to the heart of society’s underpinnings. The rhetoric calling this an anti-gay marriage debate is off base. The Marriage Amendment should simply state that “Marriage is the union of one man and one woman at one time.” This statement recognizes that many people may want to unite and may per state laws, but as for this nation, marriage will be more than a civil union, it will also be protected.
(END QUOTE)

It makes me sick and sad at the same time that she, coming from a culture as hers and in a state like NC would want to deny anyone the equal right of marriage.

Maybe she'll smarten up and realize that equal rights are just that. The RIGHT of every human being in this wicked world to be happy and live/love/laugh as they please.

11. You would think, wouldn't you??
But she won't disappear. She's the only person who could do what the Repubs want done -- call for Steele's ouster.

Can you imagine the PR nightmare if some 60 year old white, male, Repub called for Steele's head?? The Repubs would be even more in the crapper with black voters... if that were possible.

6. Is he really black?
Michael Steele comes across to me like a character out of one of those movies where he plays a white person who is trying to get into college by taking advantage of a minority scholarship. So, to look black, he wears some makeup or an overdose at the tanning booth and it is still obvious to everybody watching that he is a white guy in makeup, but everybody in the movie, of course, buys into it. Even Steele's use of hip hop phrases fits into the movie.

Mr. Steele, please do not resign. The democratic party needs you!!! Mr. Limbaugh, please let Mr. Steele play just a little bit longer.

8. YES!!! I could not think of the movie that this reminded me of..
Edited on Sat Mar-07-09 07:42 AM by TheEuclideanOne
but it was Soul Man. A really bad movie that this situation would make a great sequel to.

Soul Man
The movie's protagonist is Mark Watson (Howell), the single pampered son from a rich family who is about to attend Harvard Law School along with his best friend Gordon (Gross). However, all of a sudden his father's neurotic psychiatrist talks his patient into having more fun for himself instead of spending money on his son. Faced with the horrifying prospect of having to pay for law school by himself, Mark decides to take up a scholarship, but the only suitable one is for blacks only. So he decides to cheat: by using tanning pills in a larger dose than prescribed to appear as an African-American, he sets out for Harvard, naively believing that nowadays blacks have no problems at all in American society.

10. Ada Fisher, Republican from North Carolina?
Makes me think that Barney Frank should be a Republican from Utah.
