1. It's not like the Dems have to paint
too hard to show rush limbaugh as the head of the gop. He's the de facto leader who gets all the apologies if they should mention any truths about him.

4. Exactly. And you have hit on what may be a more sophisticated strategy
Maybe events are just unfolding randomly, but the Obama team has been way ahead of their opponents all along, so I don't underestimate them.

Could the bigger strategy be to put the moderate Republican Senators into a position where they have to break with the rest of the GOP?

By putting the pressure directly on Limbaugh, they are forcing the GOP to rally around Rush. If they can make this really stick, that might be just too much for a half dozen GOP Senators to take. If Limbaugh fully takes the bait, he may force Snowe and others to kiss his ass and that may be one bridge too far.

Is Limbaugh smart enough to realize he's being used as a wedge in the GOP? If Limbaugh is a lot smarter than I think he is, he will realize the trap and start backing off. I'm guessing that he is enjoying this royalty so much he can't possible reason through it.

My guess is he will lead the effort to unseal Steele, and that will further cement this as the Party of Rush, and the 11% of the country who would see that as a good thing.

3. Thank You, Cenk! (and ihavenobias)
I know (because I'm 59) several Rushies who know all the talking points, none of the facts behind the issues, and start crying hysterically about the socialist Liberals- mind you, 10 yrs ago it was the 'bleeding-heart Liberals'- always a misguiding catch phrase. I hope this discussion and scrutiny of the slob goes on. Anybody know what he does in the bahamas with his suitcase full of viagra and oxy? Did anyone else watch the video of the slob humping the podium last week? I believe that was intentional.

8. Say if Rush can single handedly
strip the credibility of the Chairman of the RNC...HE IS THE LEADER OF THAT PARTY. And take note. THere are some in the RNC calling for Steele to resign. Guess that does make Rush the defacto Leader...least it says that to me.

he needs to be off Armed Forces Radio and then off public airways. He should go the way of Don Imus and people can pay for his programing.

10. Repubs have painted themselves in a corner on this.
Not that there aren't a million other things threatening to come down on them at any given moment. Limbaugh will play, his ego won't allow him to ignore the situation, and repubs will pay.

12. No but we did.Obama's DoJ is becoming just like Bush's.State's secrets, Yoo suit dropped etc.
WTF. This is getting serious. Obama stands in the way of investigations on wire tapping and torture and is now claiming executive privilege for hi8mself claiming He is above the law and not accountable to anyone. This is not the Obama we can believe in. His DoJ is ACTIVELY PURSUING NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE PRESIDENT HE IS ABOVE THE LAW. No court, nor congress has any right to question his decisions. I can't believe what he's doing. Time to keep our eyes wide open on this DoJ under Obama and Holder.
