Peter DeFazio drives a cool old car and he's a nice man. Not many people know that aside from sharing a name with LaVerne, Peter has refused his salary raises in Congress, as long as he has been there. As long as we are in deficit, Peter takes the same Cost of Living percentage bump that is given to Social Secrutiy beneficiaries. The remaining after tax raise money he uses to give scholarships for displaced Oregon workers. Over 150 Oregonians have benefited from those scholarships, over $250,000 DeFazio could have kept, as did his peers in Congress, for it was his to keep. He continues to give that money away.

And I'm proud to say I helped get that man elected. And yes, it is true that he created a scholorship after voting against the pay raise that Congress enacted in the middle of the night. He can be a fireball when he wants to. His town halls can be lively too.

Happily, he was wrong. I voted for Greg's opponent, but right now can't even remember his name. Notice I haven't rec'd e-mail updates from Greg lately, interesting in that he always love to talk about what he's "doing for us". With over 11% unemployment rate in Deschutes County, higher in others in his district, real estate market in the tank, businesses closing right and left, more layoffs announced daily, probably Greg doesn't want to talk about what he's "doing to us". He really should be ashamed of himself. But then he is a republican. Clearly, shame isn't in his vocabulary, or so it seems.

and I've never seen him or anyone else in Congress go ballistic. But Peter did. I'm sure it is floating around on YT somewhere, but he clearly blew a fuse. I'm fairly certain it was during the first term of duffus. He just calls them as he see's it.
