5. No. IT IS NOT.
It's time to STICK.

It's time to play for all the marbles.

Obama ought use this crisis opportunity to permanmently shift politics in this country.

He ought to threaten to veto anything that doesn't give everything that was in the house bill - and threaten to veto every piece of legislation that come to his desk until he is sent a stimulus package that is RIGHT.

Every day the economy crumbles, HANG IT AROUND OBSTRUCTIONISTS HOOVERITE REPUBLICAN NECKS!

I understand real people's lives are on the line.... I'm one of them. No home of my own, well below the poverty line, no health insurance.... *I* am willing to sacrifice, to do my part to DRAW THE LINE HERE against republican ASSHOLES who think that they can still DICTATE ALL THE TERMS!!

NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENOUGH IS E-FUCKING-NOUGH!!

10. yes
I second that. This is not a game it's Our lives and Our country. If we fall economically we won't be able to defend ourselves if attacked and it's not like we have a bunch of allies clamoring to help us.

3. Great message but let's see what the final bill looks like before
Edited on Sat Feb-07-09 09:06 AM by Kdillard
I get too happy. Hopefully it will sharpen up when it gets to conference. I heard that is where Obama can exert a little more influence.

6. What is a catastrophe
is that even when we vote change, and even that person gets to actually take the office for which he was elected, the People still cannot achieve what their vote signified. Ditto.

7. Factual and well done
especially the put down of the Bush era. Let's hope people remember it was the Republicans who got us into this mess.

I'm especially excited about refurbishing the electrical grid. After what happened with the ice storm in Arkansas, we really have a blank slate to start over.

8. Mostly okay, but...
...I bristled at that "Democrats, *and* Republicans..." came together yadda yadda yadda...

Let's see. In the Senate, it was Democrats, and two or maybe three at the outside Republicans.

That is not compromise, that is more of the same partisan bullshit by the Republics who brought us to this pass in the first place with their unquestioning lockstep votes in favor of every spending bill that Boosh put in front of them, and their continuing lockstep in favor of tax cuts and against social spending in any form, especially if proposed by the Democrats.

Time to get out the big stick, President Obama. These people need a smackdown in the worst way. You can bash Bush's policies, and rightly so -- I'm okay with continuing to include that in your speeches. But it's time to start quoting some of the Republican governors' comments about how they need spending on education and infrastructure in their states. Use it to hang the distress of the states around the Congressional Republics' necks and cudgel them into submission. This also drives a wedge between Republic governors and congress critters, an added bonus.

These people have been using Taliban tactics for the last 8 years. It's about time they got some serious blowback. Right now the blowback is barely causing a ripple on their well-coiffed heads. They are still being allowed to grandstand, they are still getting the advantage on the airwaves. There's no point in trying to compromise with them -- what do we get for it? Billions in good stimulus spending gets taken out of the bill, to be replaced with demonstrably less effective tax cuts. And we get 2, maybe 3 extra votes. And I'm not all that sure those 2 or 3 Senators won't turn around and stab us in the back anyway.

That is not being a statesman, that is being a chump.

Some advice: The American people want to see something done. The American people also want to see someone FIGHTING for them. We don't care about the back room deals, we're not privy to all that. Get out there on the floor, Senators, and speak up for us. Fight the obstructionists. If necessary, make them filibuster, and then get out there on every program on TV and radio and the Internet and point out how the Republic obstructionists are blocking a jobs bill when we lost 600,000 jobs just last month.

Think about that number. Over half a million people lost their jobs in the USA, just last month. If that is not enough to light a fire under these dreadful little trolls then what the hell is???

9. Disapointed
I'm sooooo pissed. We need a bill that has more infrastructure and less tax cuts and gee what are they doing......rolling over for bad ideas and nonsense. In my opinion what should happen is they kill this bill and write a new one that is at least 50% infrastructure and push it through the house and senate. If the Rupubs what to filibuster have at it, let them look like morons. When the bill passes and people actually have jobs and we can work and make money then everyone who is not completely blind will see the truth. If they pander to the repubs not only will the bill not help but it will also kill any chance for re-election or change in the future. I believe in bipartisanship but who is more a fool...the fool or the one trying to argue with the fool.
