2. Can Obama argue for transparent government and allow this at the same time?

To me, a free get out of court card for life for anybody in a past administration seems to contradict transparency in gvernment. Permitting a president to assert executive privilege after his presidency, especially with the extension to anybody in his administration, is on the opposite side of the spectrum.

Also, wasn't one of the first acts of Obama to undo the changes to the executive priviledge law(rule?) that bush modified just before he left office? If that rule was revoked by Obama, then what is Rove's basis?

5. Congress should not allow this. They need to assert THEIR privilege

issue a warrant for Rove for Contempt of Congress, arrest him, jail him, whatever it takes to re-assert the authority of Congress as a branch of government EQUAL to the the Presidency, not subordinate to it. Rove thumbing his nose at Congress is wrong in so many ways. The power of Congressional subpoena needs to have teeth.

Rove should be dragged before Conyers' committee in chains.
