Let's face it, if you compare the Mormon church, with the Muslim church in America, there's not much of a difference. But I highly doubt Mr. Hanks would call them un-American. In fact, he'd probably bendover backwards to say the opposite. He's a giant hypocrite, and a spineless one at that. His path is the path of least resistance, which took the least amount of courage.

...and say that the series, which I've watched is an extremely raw look at the Mormon faith, but within the LDS church and the Fundamentalist chrches.

It pulls no punches. It shows that people involved in these religions can be bigoted, virtuous, misguided, loving, and ammoral just like anyone in any other religion.

The series drew a lot of viewers in with the erotic aspect of a polygamist lifestyle, but as the series has progressed, it has shown this lifestyle to be one that damages many of the people involved in it (women, young girls, young boys). I agree wit totodeinhere that it in no way promotes the polygamist lifestyle.

The RW making a major stink over what CERTAIN people from Hollywood say is only meant to keep CERTAIN ideas from having a large platform. Period. They have absolutely no problem worshiping people from Hollywood when it serves their purposes. Does Ronald Reagan or Fred Thompson ring a bell?

It's time for progressives to stop internalizing RW talking points and stop being the fools the RW thinks we are.

Aaron Sorkin's original script for "CWW" contained some material pointing 9/11 straight back to our support of the Afghan "freedom fighters" during the 1980's. People like Osama bin Laden and Hekmatyr Gulbuddin.

e.g., Sorkin wrote one great line for the CIA agent Gust, played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman: "There will come a time when we WISH the godless Communists were running Afghanistan." (From memory.)

George Crile's book "CWW" made this very clear and went into great detail about it. In many places, Wilson and his helpers came across as ignorant fools fixated on nothing but the idea of "killing Russians." Wilson liked Pakistan because he hated India. For one reason, he "didn't like the way Indians held their heads." !!!

After reading the script, Hanks said "I just can't deal with this 9/11 stuff" and forced several re-writes.

Some other re-writes happened because the crazy right-wing heiress in the movie, Joanne Herring, threatened the studio with massive lawsuits.
