5. This Brought Me To Tears ...

...I am not gay, but I watched my uncle struggle with his gayness, born in 1918. He was institutionalized when I was a child and they turned this funny, bright, multi-talented man into a human blob with dead eyes. THAT was their goddamn cure! I was only 6 and did not understand what was happening of course, nobody talked about WHY he was in there. All I knew was that my favorite uncle was certainly *not* "cured" of whatever illness he supposedly had, he was just not the same person. It has made me an activist for sexual equality because I believe if he had been allowed to be who he was, he would have reached his potential and I do not want this ti happen to one more gay person. Instead he died as a drug addict (they addicted him to Demerol in the mental institution and he never got over it), alcoholism and shame. All because OTHER PEOPLE could not accept who he was. He was a beautiful child of God, he was one of the most beautiful people I have ever known. He should have been able to live who he was and he would have been much happier instead of being ashamed.

Now I ask people who think they are *so* godly: "Being gay is *not* a choice! When God makes people this way, how DARE you to say God made a mistake! YOU are the ungodly one!"

I miss my uncle to this day ... :cry:

7. Recommended. This is a serious issue that affects everybody.

I know that this video is serious and I feel very strongly about just letting people be who they are and allowing everyone equal rights.
