The Obama's 10 year old daughter, Malia, is said to favor a Goldendoodle. Here's a look at one (who belongs to my brother.)

3. The Goldendoodle is nice! Rambunctious, not too little, not too big...
...and hypoallergenic. I like it.

6. They're very large
I know a guy who has one. It's a huge dog-a little taller than a golden retriever. His is pretty rowdy though, and requires quite a bit of training.

Still - cool dog!

8. Adorable dog!
Plus, he's hypoallergenic and he's a good size. Little kids do better with bigger dogs (unlike mine...).:-)

17. He is just adorable!
Hadn't heard of this breed before, but they look like wonderful dogs! I've had dogs all my life, adopt from rescue, and I take the older ones, cockers and terriers, and they seem to find me. The pups in my sig are my Brussels Griffons, an unusual breed, and quite small, not necessarily recommended for young kids. My Jackie Pup is the exception. Adopted him at five months and he loves everybody. I think a pup like yours would be just perfect... :D

BTW, you can post the pic. Just right click on the pic, click on "properties," then copy and paste... :-)

Here's your precious Satch...:loveya:

And my little Jack...:loveya:

and you're so great to save older dogs! Thanks for posting Satch's pic and for the tip on how to post... He's incredible with kids and our neighborhood calls him "The Mayor" since he's so friendly and everyone knows him. The breeder we got him from is known for super calm pups and good temperament adults.

32. Thanks and you're more than welcome. :-)
Everyone needs to see how cute your Satch really is... He sounds like an incredible dog, and a dog just like him would be great for the Obama girls...:D

And I do love the senior dogs, feel that they're the ones who need me the most and I've never been the least bit disappointed. My cocker, Barney, was 10 or 11 when I adopted him and I had him for eight wonderful years, was perfect from day one even though he'd been at a commercial kennel and had never lived with people... ;(

My Jackie Pup was the exception, is only two now. He was a pet shop rescue and a vet tech who used to work for my vet was helping to foster him and she knew my other Brussels Griffon, Meneken, sticking his tongue out in my sig, LOL, so contacted me. He was nine and had belonged to an older lady who died. *sigh* I called about a cocker spaniel, my breed, but he'd been placed, and Meneken, my baby, needed help, ASAP, since his adoptive home wasn't working out. All my guys have sad stories and I believe that they find me...:-(

I adopted Jack at five months. He had a "health problem," so couldn't be sold, a hernia that was repaired when he was neutered. *sigh* He was just irresistible, but now I know why I take the older ones, LOL, since I'm not used to puppies... But he's a very special little dog, very friendly, loves everybody. Brussels Griffons can be one-person dogs, as my Meneken was, but Jack is great with everybody, was with a lot of people in those five months, including the Animal Emergency Clinic where his rescuers work. He's a little guy, though big for a Griff at 16 lbs. (Meneken weighed eight), so I'm hoping to have him for 20 years... :-)

Here's a close-up...:loveya:

You know, I'm not sure about that. I know he doesn't shed much at all, so I think they just bath and comb him. I'll have to find out! LOL.

Goldendoodle Puppy Breed Information
http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/breeds/1100300/

Coat: A Goldendoodle has two types of coat. Shaggy and wavey or Shaggy/wavey with loose curls. A Goldendoodle should not sport a curly coat like that of a purebred Poodle or a flat coat like that of a Golden Retriever. The Goldendoodle will go through 10-15 various coat changes and phases from the time it is born until the day it turns one year of age. The Goldendoodle's coat does require maintenence once the coat has fully formed. The Goldendoodle has a single coat that sheds very lightly.

24. My brother has one
the thing is a whirlwind of destruction and has to be leashed in the house when company is over. It is also close to 100 lbs and uncontrollable by their daughter in college. They attended puppy class and had a trainor to the house and still not good.

26. All due respect, the dogs are like kids...
for the most part a reflection of the "parents" and how attentive they are to training and consistency. Just like your kids won't be well behaved because you sent them to a great day care center, you dogs won't be well behaved because you paid someone to do a few training sessions. (not you personally, the collective you)

Yes there are exceptions, but you post functions to cast aspersions on an entire breed. I just had to post the counterpoint.

I'd love to see the kids playing with their dog on the White House Lawn. It seems a shame to waste such a large expanse of land like that.
