I was there with thousands of other Obama supporting students. It was spontaneous, started by a few hundred, and it was amazing. Here you see us marching from the Capitol, down state street and to Bascom Hill to continue the celebration

One of the most unforgettable nights of my life

2. First time in 8 years
I've heard the chant "USA! USA!" that did not have anything to do with bombing or killing anyone.
Honest. The nightmare is over.

4. awesome
I don't think there have ever been these spontaneous demonstrations like this in any election in my life time. I wish the racists would get a clue!

7. The racists are few in Mad City

Mad City is a righteous town. The first one to stand up to Dow and the immoral war

After the experiment in Asia I went there.(J.D. 78) It is a town on the cutting edge of change.

5. Hey that it great!! Did I hear more cowbell??
Love you Madison, from little old Pepin (yep, the place Russ referred to when he introduced Obama in Green Bay, and said, "this thing is BIG! There's even a Democratic office in Pepin!!!")

6. Those are my fellow ewoks last night, that's for sure
People were just throwing opening their doors and yelling "Whooooo!" all over town. I could hear them when I wasn't yelling out the window myself... It was remarkable.

8. "Yes we can!" and "No more Bush" are one thing, but...
chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" really creep me out, regardless of who is doing the shouting. Way too threatening and ultra-nationalistic from my perspective. Too much like a Hitler Youth rally.

9. Cheering for your country is too much like Hitler Youth Rallies?

10. There's a big difference between love of country and defiant ultra-nationalism
But perhaps the discussion is too nuanced for some. My apologies.

11. I think the way Republicans use the chant and the way we did it was completely different
We cheered because we were proud of our country. They cheer to drown out protest.
