1. Conservative Catholics are single issue voters.
Great report .. if it's verifiable. More information please!

Just like you point out that how you should read up on the candidates before deciding it is also wrong to vote based on one issue only.

2. I would hope that this young man's parents voiced an objection to this assembly.
I know all to well about Conservative Catholics my sister is one. They helped get bush elected. It's is different this time around. She said Palin lost McCain their votes.
The single issue this time is Palin's religion. they have said some pretty vile thing about the Catholic Church and they fer her.
Thank God my parents (strict Catholics) raised us to think critically, my dad has always believed in separation of church and state and it didn't hurt that he was a strong union supporter.

I hope my sister is right and Palin's religion turns them off so much, that they set aside their single issue and vote for what's best for all of us.

I don't have more info since it is not my vid, but maybe you could go to the young man's youtube page and ask him directly.

3. As a member of a more liberal RC Church in NJ...
As a member of a more liberal RC Church in NJ, I am glad we don't see any of this. We are liberal but not political.

The actions of the high school don't affect the church in total as they are really separate entities. All that aside the principal, etal, should be admonished for their poor judgment.

The RC Church's position is that no one should vote based on one tenant of a particular politician. Clearly one of Obama's position is against the teachings of the church, however the Democratic position of responsibility to all, and not just the rich, offsets their other positions. On balance Obama proves to be more Christian than the Republican position, and therefore more acceptable to Catholics.

I had an old priest who used to say ' That is between them and God '. He stayed out of a lot of catty conversations that way.

6. I was raised in a liberal RC Church but it seems over the last two elections...
the church has gone very Conservative. In my parent's Parish (So. Cal) they openly supported bush. My sister's Parish in Oregon as a whole changed their registration from D to R in protest.
When I went on strike (California Grocery Strike) my own priest crossed my picket line daily with a sermon on my selfishness. He was unwilling to drive forty miles (he had a brand new car, mine was 10 years old) for groceries. The majority in the town supported us and made the drive and others formed carpools.

Sadly this is not the church of my youth.

5. A private school without public funding ...
probably has SOME right to have an assembly of students.

The kid (about 16-17) is obviously pissed about what he thinks is "unfair" and
oppressive that happened at school. We can accept his characterization. However, the
threat of retaliation prevents him from providing the facts needed for
others to decide if any laws were broken.

Yet whatever the merits, what was the result of all this "helping him decide"?

Another DEMOCRAT! Hey!
