5. Actually, as per all coverage of the election,

debates ARE about winning and losing, and you do have to play the moderator. I thought these guys pretty much nailed it. The Republican acknowledged that Palin will have to know some substantive things in order to avoid being stumped by a hard queation (and to Palin, I say, good luck with that). The Democratic guy was spot-on: Biden must make this a discussion of McCain and only McCain. Palin has no record to run on and is a big nothing on the issues. Biden must make her defend McCain's bad ideas.

What's the objection, now?

9. Don't forget post-debate debate

After the debate, the spin doctors, pundits, and surrogates debate each other about who won, as they are still doing now about Friday's debate. And when the polls reveal how the public reacted to the debate and the post-debate discussions, then the pundits turn to trying to explain what happened, even if it means completely contradicting their earlier assessments. That's where it gets really funny.

I agree about Biden needing to attack McCain's ideas and record. Palin doesn't have either, so you can only attack her for that lack. And then what? Go after McCain. And can Palin defend McCain's policies, past and present? Will she know what they are? Or will she get it wrong, demonstrating her deficiencies and the deficiency of McCain's judgment in picking her?

Here's a suggestion: Throw in a little history along the way, not just things Joe Biden personally remembers, but say of the Great Depression and FDR. You think Palin can intelligently discuss those topics?

Oh, oh, oh! I got it! Talk about energy and oil! Tempt her into trying to prove her great expertise on that subject. You know she'll get every fact wrong.

that he has to walk on eggshells with. Why does she get that consideration? No one else does! Hillary sure as hell didn't.

to match her's or he may be seen as arrogant and condescending, bullying her with his mental prowess.
