It's clear that this whole "Bailout" episode is a demented plot to prey on the easy programmability of the American People, in that the bush administration proclaims to the entire world that the America is on the brink of finanical ruin ( Treasonous offense for a President IMO ), then asks Congress to immediately handover $700 billion of tax payer money no questions asked... ( Impeachable offense # 2 IMO ) knowing full well it would enrage almost the entire population. Thus daring congress to vote in support of the bill and risk losing their local election or not supporting the bailout and run the risk of being blamed for the market collapse. Then majority of republicans vote against the bailout bill even as the republican president, McCain, Palin and others demanding the bill get passed..... Hummmmm....

WHAT I SEE IS THE REPUBLICANS ARE WILLING TO DESTROY THE COUNTRY IN ORDER TO WIN AN ELECTION....

This ad proves the SHAMEFUL STRATEGY THE REPUBLICANS ARE ENGAGED IN!

50. You really picked the wrong fight with that line

It's also ironic considering that Cenk has had 13 members cancel since he started criticizing the bailout. He wrote a scathing article over at DailyKos about how bad the bailout was and how the Dems shouldn't stand for it (this was the Friday before last, when it was first proposed) and guess what? Thread haters (hint, hint) ripped him a new one. Why? Because they disagreed with him.

As of monday those some haters were in complete agreement with Cenk, so they just ignored their stupid comments the previous Friday. I've disagreed with Cenk plenty of times, but I never cancelled my membership because of it.

You want me to criticize him? Easy, here goes:

1)-He's too harsh with Republican guests a lot of the time. I like that he challenges them on their bullshit, but sometimes he goes too far and it makes it much easier for moderates and independents to dismiss him on style points alone.

2)-He doesn't go far enough on progressive taxation. He thinks the rates prior to Reagan were FAR too high and I disagree. Sure, maybe some of the rates were too high, but they aren't as outrageous as he seems to think.

3)-He doesn't go far enough in opposing so called "free trade". I'm probably somewhere between Cenk and Thom Hartmann on the issue. And yes, I love Thom Hartmann (and Maddow and Ron Reagan and others). I like to listen to a variety of different voices (I also read newspapers, don't get the idea that I just listen to talk radio) because they each bring something new to the table and challenge me in some way. The problem is they don't all make cool youtube videos for me to post at DU, unlike TYT.

I could go on but hopefully you get the point. As a bonus I'll say that he sometimes swears unnecessarily, which doesn't bother *me* but I recognize that it can and does bother some people. And again, it can turn off some moderates and independents.

At any rate, I think the fact that he gets top notch guests on a regular basis speaks for itself. Naomi Klein and Naomi Wolf were on the show on the same day last week. Pelosi was on his other show Meet The Bloggers last Wednesday (Rachel Maddow and Michael Moore were also recent guests). Now, that doesn't PROVE that he's amazing or that he's always right (NO ONE is), but it does prove that a good amount of people are buying what he's selling.

You're clearly not of them which is fine. My only issue is when people profess to greatly dislike or hate someone only to go on a popular thread and bash them generically. Really, what's the point? If you don't like him simply ignore him, which is what I do with (for example) Lionel.

When I have an issue with Cenk, I bring it to HIM directly. I email him or I even create threads on the TYT website.

I did that on trade, and his producer Dave made it a featured thread on the homepage. Why? Because they like to be challenged.

The difference is I don't bash him generically in popular threads about him.

Super obvious content? Do you how many times Cenk covers stories that don't appear in the MSM? Covers stories *before* they get to Olbermann and Maddow (not comparing him to them although I would point out that Keith has given Cenk kudos and credit for his ideas more than once and Maddow was on his other show Meet The Bloggers in August).

But that's ok, different strokes for different folks. I'm glad you recognize that Cenk distills complicated issues in a way that makes them easy to understand and therefore, easy to argue at the watercooler.
