1. Kudos to him for laying it on the line and being up front -- honestly seeming
to put politics aside and focus on what the best solution for our country would be. And kudos to Rachel for asking such excellent questions.

2. Bait and Switch
Seems the Dems got set up again. The Republican Administration throws out a dire warning with a proposal. The Dems have no other plan and for the sake of politics they react, utilizing the basic tenant of the initial proposal and throw in safeguards, main street provision et cet. Than the Repubs walk away and say that the basic proposal is wrong (which most likely is correct) leaving the Dems at the table with egg on their face.

The time for cooperation is long gone. Steamroll the Republicans and come up with a real economic plan. These giants (AIG, Lehman Bros etal.) are already bailed out. Believe nothing the people behind the curtain say.

If the next great depression is around the corner borrowing (which is the root cause of this current crisis) is not the solution.
