Bernie Sanders spells out the true origins of our Wall Street meltdown, and proposes the right solution. We need a buy-out, not a bail-out; and we need to restore the regulations that served us well for more than 60 years.

2. Great Speech Senator Sanders of Vermont. I liked your idea of:
Creating an Emergency Tax Surcharge on the Rich to pay for Wall Street's Bailout. We also need to restore regulations over big business. Thank you for the post, vmaus.

6. any company too big to fail should prepay into a bailout fund
to be used for future bailouts only for companies that have contributed in first.

companies that don't contribute don't qualify for bailouts.

eventually, creditors will insist on payment into the fund in order to qualify for the highest ratings and lowest interest rates.

7. Senator Sanders had the right idea
Just break them up under anti-trust laws. It's cheaper and easier.

14. This should be required viewing for every American
Regardless of party!!! This man is speaking the truth and is doing so with such passion. It is a wonderful thing to behold.

His idea of an emergency surtax paid by CEO's and other execs to stave off future financial calamities is one of the best ideas I've heard since this whole mess started.

I am fairly ambivalent about his idea that if a company is too big to fail, it is too big to exist though. I understand the "mechanics" of what he's saying but if a company is able to become gargantuan through non-predatory measures, I say go for it. But then again, what are the chances that a company could become gargantuan through non-predatory measures in the first place??? :)
