Newly Found Tape of McCain in Hanoi

Swedish broadcaster SVT on Thursday, September 11, 2008, released a previously unseen film clip purportedly showing the release of presidential candidate John McCain to the U.S. military in Hanoi in 1973.

A former SVT reporter, Erik Eriksson, said he found the video in the network's archives when he was looking for footage for a book he was writing about his experiences as a war correspondent in Vietnam.

SVT posted the edited 39-second clip on its Web site on Thursday. It shows McCain stepping off a bus with other prisoners.

27. Republicans have to remember their disgraceful
Deceit , lies , BS and propaganda they did to a war hero ,,
Kerry 24/7.
Republicans have dug themselves into the biggest sewer pit of
no return.
McSame loves to wave his pow static around like a flag to
receive votes from Americans.....But he got the POW files
closed and censored so no one could see any information in
them.

Vietnam POW Activists Called McCain ‘Songbird’ and ‘Manchurian
Candidate’

Among groups who oppose John McCain, the most serious charges
come from a small but fervent cadre of Vietnam POW/MIA
activists who accuse him of being a collaborator during his
time in the Vietnamese POW camps.

**
Ted Sampley, a Green Beret who swiftboated John Kerry in 2004,
is now going after John McCain. He said that the Republican
senator ignored credible evidence that American POWs were
still alive in Southeast Asia. "He took away the only
leverage we had for getting those soldiers back," Sampley
said. "Why? He was paying back the Vietnamese for keeping
quiet about him."

31. I was replying to the fact that McCain "looked okay" in the video
as if to suggest he was lying about his abuse. That's wrong on many levels. It's also wrong that someone called "MrObama" is posting it here, it's planting fodder for the Bill O'Reilly types.

36. Not odd at all
The video was found by a Swedish reporter who covered the Vietnam war. He found in the archives of Swedish Radio, while he was doing research for a book about Vietnam.

8. I had always thought that Mc Cain was in such poor condition
that he could barely walk, let alone talk. We weren't presented with anything near this video of him able to walk on his own; we only saw pictures/reports in the media of him being completely in capacitated. But then he is and most always has been a phony used by the GOP for propaganda purposes. He is no more a hero in my eyes than any of my own who have been in the service.

25. No, that was shortly after he was captured.... he's limping like that years later.....
To me, I think the problem is that footage was taken almost 40 years ago.

16. I noticed that, too.
Not having any apparent trouble raising his right arm in a salute here, is he? And he's walking well. Why did he need crutches in the U.S. footage taken slightly later?

I'd have more respect if he was a REAL man and stood up against that filthy war instead of dropping bombs and napalm on folk. Did he volunteer for that crap?

26. Kind of shocked by some of the comments....
When that video was taken McCain's legs had basically not been set correctly. If I'm not mistaken he'd been inside for five years at that point. Rather than attack the moment, why not just say "I respect the mans service, but you're talking about 40 years and he is now 72 years old. Simple as that. Heck, show em this video and say, look how beatup he was in 1969. He'll never last his first term. Watch.

34. Well, I think we can mix attack dog with a shade of respect for McCain....
I think it actually helps us to mention that yes, he's sacrificed greatly for the country, but this is the 21st century and we need new leadership. In between we drop bombs on Palin.

32. He dosn't look that tall anymore.
Must be the weight of all the bullshit he has been carrying on his shoulders for years.

Seriously, he is taller than nearly everyone else in the video yet today he is shorter than most other men.
