8. The rumored name, Dick Cheney, would've had zero trouble because
Debra Jean Palfrey, who said on national radio that she would never commit suicide in a million years, then proceeded to allegedly "commit suicide."

Which left Flynt isolated.

In addition, the Hookergate scandal is connected to the second Watergate (hooker/poker) scandal, which brought down Dusty Foggo, Deputy Director of the CIA. Which was connected to blackmailing dozens of Senators & Congressmen, and probably Supreme Court Justices, and others in the intelligence field. Which is connected to Sibel Edmonds' revelations of nuclear black market ties & drug trafficking through Turkey & Europe, and money laundering & False Flag terrorism funding.

You see why Flynt chooses his battles more carefully. A bite of an iceberg is a losing battle.

You know he gathered information, what he did with it, apparently, occurred behind closed doors. Maybe that's what it was all about all along?

36. I don't think he said it was a Republican...just that it was someone who shocked him.
With hindsight, I figure it was John Edwards. As I recall, at the time Flynt was out to expose hypocrisy and he didn't care which side of the aisle he found it on. I also think he said he wouldn't expose it unless the person did something -- like maybe get the nomination for prez? I can't remember at this late date what his caveat was.

30. There was a documentary on Larry Flynt on TV this last week
And they showed Larry in his younger years, it was so great! I didn't think Woody looked much like him until I saw that, and then it was clear those two look so much alike. Great casting for the People vs. Larry Flynt.

19. Wow, wonder who the devil is supporting
Maybe we can get that endorsement too! This exploitative bastard is not my American Hero. Not so impressed with his "free speech" credibility. Someone who has exploited women to this extent including the sexual abuse of his own daughter, who spoke out about that with Gloria Steinam on the Charlie Rose show. Excuse me if I am not overly excited about this scumbag offering this "comedy" bit in support of Obama. I noticed he also included link information to his "business" venture. There is more than one perspective on this asshole.

which I bow down to Mr. Flynt for maintaining that freedom. He took a bullet for us all. I know a hero when I see one. Larry Flynt is a hero. The Obama campaign called Hillary a racist for starters and said women will come around.... so; they are on the same page by your standards.

20. Post the transcript of this video in an issue of Hustler, Larry!
That's the only way rednecked Bubbas will be made aware of your opinion. You'd better place each point under a different picture of a naked young woman 'cause Bubba won't waste a lot of time readin'. Coat the page with some chemical to make it drool and beer proof in case the issue is passed down to the next Bubba. Come to think of it, such a plan might get an entire generation of teenage boys interested in politics.

28. So glad to see the 'progressives'
on DU supporting the sexism of our culture. Wow, it takes a real insecure, small male to rec this.

And don't bothering replying...I learned very long ago that MANY (not all) dem males are more sexist than many of the repugnant males.

How the hell do you think the Women's Liberation Movement of the '60's started? A bunch of progressive dewds telling the women to fetch coffee and make copies. The women decided to have their own meeting upstairs.

Flynt regards women as nothing but objects and if you endorse him, a part of you does too. At least be honest with yourselves and others and cop to your sexist attitudes.

32. I am a female, and find your post offensive
Nobody forces women to pose in Hustler magazine. All of those women have the choice to do any other job in the world, and it isn't like Hustler Magazine was the only job they could get so they're stuck posing nude...

Say what you will about the smut. Fine, gross, low life, whatever. But the thing you have to remember is that Larry Flynt has been fighting for First Amendment rights his entire life, and it is because of him that political satire is still available to us. The American Association of Editorial Cartoonists backed him in his suit with Jerry Falwell because the outcome of that suit determined their very livelihood.

To advocate censorship because you find something offensive is to go against the First Amendment of the Constitution. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Hall, paraphrasing Voltaire.

There is no difference between trying to censor pornography and the Religious Right banning books and trying to legislate morality.

You may want to rethink your whole stance on how "Liberated" we are as women. From my perspective, we're less liberated than ever. The net result of the Women's Liberation movement seems to be now ALL women HAVE to work to make ends meet, and more than likely our children are being raised by strangers in daycare.

We are not Liberated. We're slaves to corporations.

Flint, why did you click this link?

You are the one with the problem - you prefer censorship instead of controlling what your own fingers do.

I am a woman and I owe a huge debt to the honor of Larry Flint and his fight for freedom of speech.

Remember, even if I don't agree with what you say, I'll fight and die for your right to say it.

Now who do you want to censor and shut up?

55. Read your...
...go read some Dworkin comment above.

Invoking Dworkin isn't really helping out your argument much. I've read some of her work after being made aware of her presence some time ago, well as much as I could stand, which really wasn't much at all. Of what I did read, the conclusion I could draw with reasonably certainty is that her hostility towards men is so powerful, and comes across so clearly, that every point she makes is infused with this inherent hostility and bias. It is difficult to take seriously any of her 'ideas', simply because they all seem to involve the implication that all sexuality, regardless of its consensuality, is by definition predatory and thus degrading to women.

I'm sorry, but I cannot accept something so broadly biased on its face, regardless of intent.

One other thing...

Don't bother replying? This is a message board based in the sharing of opinion. If you don't want a response, please don't post.

Larry looked like he was enjoying himself. His top ten made me laugh out loud and break out into a smile.

It's funny, I used to despise the guy, now I admire him in an odd kind of way. He's been through a lot of shit and survived. He's only about 6 years younger than McCain, but a hell of a lot more articulate than Johnny the POW, IMO.

More info on Flynt's life for anyone interested. It's from imdb:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0283658/bio
