The John McCain campaign and the neocon smear machine are up and running saying all kinds of nasty things. In order to be "fair and balanced" I put together a negative add against McCain to help with the conversation.

This presentation combines information on his military past from The US Veteran Dispatch and other sources which are hardly Left wing organizations. I also combined it with common knowledge from his own admissions and the public record of his life and career.

Lots of truth in that run but just not the type of ad that Obama feels he could rightfully run.

He is dedicated to running a clean, intelligent campaign with facts not side shows and tabloid type info. :thumbsup:

4. Was his capture as a POW due to him mishandling the craft, as the ad stated?

If so, that takes about all of the glitter on him being a POW-hero.

I certainly don't consider someone a "hero" if they were victims of their own incompetence.

the term "hero" is so vastly overused it's ridiculous.

heroism is making a choice that the health and safety of others above your own. there's some general heroism in joining the military in the first place, but there's no heroism in just being there while events play out around you. enduring torture makes you a victim or a survivor, not a hero. following orders does not make you a hero. VOLUNTEERING for an extra dangerous mission might make you a hero, but no one's accusing mclame of that.

getting captured does not make him a hero, whether he handled his aircraft poorly or not.



now, telling the enemy NOTHING and getting more torture or even killed as a result, THAT would be heroism. instead, mcain't became his captors' spokesman. that's not heroism, that COWARDICE.

8. I didn't have enough info on the Forrestal

The best information I could find about the Forrestal incident was that he was in the middle of it when a missile hit his plane on the deck. It is always described as if it is an external missile that came in and hit him.

Can you point me to something that shows his responsibility for that missile?
