I was there for the school desegregation. And a dastardly thing it was, too. If I'm recalling correctly, it was in 1962...could have been '63, but I think it was '62...and they put exactly ONE black student in each classroom of 30. I'll bet they didn't put one white student in each class in the formerly black school...what do you want to bet? It wasn't something that happened in the beginning of the school year, it was already in progress.

On top of that, they decided to redo some of the tile (somewhere unseen in the school) so when we walked in that morning there was a rank stench throughout the building...then into the classrooms and guess who was already there before any other student? Naturally many halfwits believed the smell was not from the tile repair, as we all know how cruel children can be. Especially when trained to hate black people from birth.

I still remember the girl in our classroom...Sylvia was her name, and she was a head taller than anyone else. When I think back on the utter disregard whomever came up with the idea to put one black student in each class (I guess they felt it was safe)...typical of a state more Republican than most (even if some of them pretended to be Democrats, Dixiecrats more like)! I can't even imagine how she must have felt, in an utterly alien environment and being gawked at by a bunch of strange kids.

Anyway...thank the Big G I'm the Hell out of that state now and in a place where people are reasonable. You know that SC is 49th lowest rated in education, right? Yeah, that explains a LOT about why they are (still) so pro-Bush!

Was the nature of the attacks on Obama. None of it was really on policy. Instead it was all about how they think Obama is not up to the task. What did they have to offer to support their points? Basically, gut instincts. Of course those same gut instincts gave us George W. Bush. Just look how that has turned out. But what else can the talking heads do when their only goal is to create a horserace. Every time John McCain opens his mouth in goes his foot. That means they are left with bad mouthing Barak Obama and bad mouth him they do. A recent evaluation showed that 72% of the comments on Obama are negative. Much of it is borderline racist.
