From the clip:

Charlie Rose: Some say we'll never know who won that election in Florida.

Scalia: Well, the press unanimously...there were a number of different organizations involved...they unanimously came to that conclusion.

3. Scalia sounded so concerned that the U.S. was the laughingstock of the world over the '04 election.

Yet, he doesn't seem to have any problems with James Baker and his goons infiltrating Florida and strongarming the ballot counts.

You think the U.S. was the laughingstock of the world during the '04 elections, Scalia? What do you think the world's opinion of the U.S. is now, after 8 years of Bush in the White House? You are partially responsible for this debacle.

4. "Some say we'll never know who won..."
That'll be true as long as people like Rose let people like Scalia blankedly claim that "the press ...unanimously" found that the outcome hadn't changed. By never addressing the critiques of that investigation, and thus the reasons "some say" otherwise, that's a prescription for leaving it in limbo.

And as to that "laughingstock of the world" that we "couldn't hold an election" horseshit? We had a process for sorting out close elections, and it was in progress until the SC interfered. Since when does Fat Tony care about what foreigners think of us?

(And that's not even considering how many people in other countries simply had the wrong impression of what was happening: in the parlimentary systems most familar to citizens of other democracies, the government changes immediately after an election so a disputed election means that there's no government, so they were worried that a military and economic power of our magnitude was running around headless. Some of them needed reminders that we still did have a president, Bill Clinton, and he would remain so until Jan. 20, by which time we expected to have the dispute resolved.)

my italian heritage, Guido, Pietro et al, and I of course had the Big Louie and Fat Tony, but even they could
not be as evil and venal as that fat fuck. I'm going to have to lose the adjective and re name the drive

6. Baseball Analogy
So let me get this straight. Because we were the laughingstock of the world because we couldn't settle the election quickly, we just go with whoever's ahead (based on what results I'm not sure). That's like ending a baseball game in the fifth inning, so whoever's ahead is going to be the winner anyway, right, justice. In his opinion then, the conclusion to draw would be it's better to make a decision quickly than to work through the process and get it right. And what have we gotten by 'quickly' deciding the election. The US is no longer the laughingstock of the world. He's right about that. We are now despised by the rest of the world. Once again the repugnants have proven that they know how to win elections but have no idea how to actually govern.

7. Laughing Stock
If Fat Tony had REALLY been worried about something so unimportant to our elections as a few jibes by the British... if being a world-wide "laughing Stock" was the serious problem he claims to have feared so, then he wouldn't have allowed a "Gentleman's" C flunky, dry drunk, AWOL, illiterate Jackass who can't speak English to become our Commander and Chief.

No, Scalia needed his soul mate, Dick Cheney in charge, and since NOBODY was ever gonna vote for Dick.....

The only laughing stock issue Tony was worried about was that the Repugs couldn't even steal an election without screwing up and having to pull out "Plan B...involve the Supreme Court".
