2. I really hope Fineman is wrong
A rational human being does not act like a spoiled child.

A few personal notes:
  • I leave it to Senator Obama to choose his running without my unsolicited help. Since he showed good judgment during the run up to the Iraq War, there is no reason not to trust his judgment on this matter. If he thinks Senator Clinton will add something to the ticket that will help him carry two or three more states, fine and well, let him ask her and let her accept. Otherwise, he should choose someone else.
  • Harriet Christian does not represent the typical female baby boomer Hillary booster. Most of them know better than to say that John McCain will be a better president than Barack Obama and very few of them will not vote for for Barack Obama.
  • Senator Clinton no longer has anything for which to fight (Obama has the delegates; the Florida and Michigan parties are happy with the rules committee compromise), nor anything with which to fight (she's out of money). It's time to get out. It's OK with me if she waits a couple of days, but it's time to be a good Democrat and a good American.

3. Why would you think most know better than Harriet?
Hillary sure didn't

5. You are assuming that Hillary is going to vote for McCain?
I'm not. On the contrary. I may question her judgment about the IWR and the Kyl-Lieberman resolution, but she has better judgment than to vote for McCain.

It's true that Senator Clinton made an ill-advised remark to the effect that McCain would make a better president a couple of months back. However, that was heated campaign rhetoric and she has since indicated that she has thought better than that.

It's one thing for Senator Clinton and her supporters to think that she would make a better president than Senator Obama. Let them go on thinking that and continue thinking that for the rest of their lives. However, it's quite another thing to think that more of Bush's policies would be better than Senator Obama. Any empirically-based argument should be able to refute that.

6. Well, to be fair
I think you're giving Clinton way too much credit with regard to her having openly praised McCain on more than one occasion (Bill did the same).

And not only did she praise McCain, she praised McCain in the direct context of praising him at Obama's expense, and that praise is now being used in RNC commercials to undermine Obama (as many of us said would happen). Yes, primaries can get heated, but THE #1 rule is that you don't praise the other party's nominee while undermining the likely nominee of your own party (which Obama was as long as 3 months ago when much of this was going on).

As for who she'll vote for, honestly, I have no idea. I never considered the idea that she'd vote for McCain...the idea honestly never crossed my mind before I read the sentence.

8. I hope you are right that most will come back to the fold...
...but I was very disheartened last night when I heard Geraldine Ferraro say that she would likely not vote for Obama.

Many people listen to her for guidance, and I think it is very sad that she is doing this to the party.

The message from Ferraro, Clinton's antics last night, and McCain's mentioning "mistreatment" of Hillary in the press and thereby endearing himself to the die-hard Hillary supporters (he "feels their pain") all combine to give a nice healthy shove toward those die-hards towards the arms of McCain.

I truly hope that cooler heads will prevail in a few days, and I think it is up to Hillary to make a sincere effort to bring all of her supporters over to Obama. Based on recent history, I am not holding my breath.

7. Dissent
The Democrats will nominate Obama for re-election in 2012. The only way Senator Clinton will become president now is through the succession clause, and then only if Obama asks her to be his running mate.

10. I always enjoy listening to Cenk....
He's always dead on and adds some mild humor to it. I sure as hell hope that Hillary is not asked to be VP, she's not deserving given the way she's run her campaign.
