This is my Moveon.org ad . I believe if Obama wins it will be the political equivalent of what Jesse owens did in 1936. I hope you like it . This race always gives me the tingles and so does the speeches Obama makes

1. I guess I won't bother pointing out the history that followed that event.

It was WWII and the advent of national media that provided the main impetus for civil rights in this country, not a celebrity athlete. And of course, the Owens victory did nothing to prevent the war or the holocaust. (It would be unreasonable to expect that it would.)

My impression is that like the Owens victory, an Obama win would be a symbolic success, assuming he can even pull it off.

The analogy is subtle enough . But I think Obama's potential achievement is similar to the ground breaking Jesse Owens had in sport . He changed the way people think

25. Jesse Owen's V's Obama

Jesse Owen's shattered the German myth of Aryan superiority. He did it in front of the whole world .

The truth is America did not afford him the respect he or any American deserved when he came home triumphant.

There are many people in America treating Obama the same way . Trying to make out he is unpatriotic , a muslim , a terrorist etc.
