1. Problem is;

That by identifying with Lincoln is the cracker part of the party is getting all fired up about Abraham. These 'States right' assholes are calling Lincoln everything but republican. In their eyes he is responsible for the south losing the war and for 160 years of troubles. Lincoln may have been a republican in name, however, taken against today's values, he would be considered a progressive Democrat.

2. That's the problem with any repug prior to Eisenhower....

THEY were a different breed. They had different ideology. True, there are many of those repugs still attached to this fascist party today, but they are not getting "their money's worth" from their repug politicians. The repugs today are ALL about profits, corporations, tax breaks for the wealthiest of Americans....and lots and lots of bigotry to go around for everyone. That's not what the republican party was before Nixon.

And the repugs today have morphed into the fascist state that we see in Washington today. Unfortunately the dimwitted repugs today don't analyze the difference, and they have no where to go but to the Democratic Party ...and that would be treason. Hence, so many independents today. They can't support the Democratic ideals, but they can't identify with this sick, cancerous repug/fascist party of today.
