1. I say all Democrats appear to be dilusional
We are about to nominate candidates who are either high in negatives and another who will whither under a Swiftboat attack as did Michael Dukakis. Its the nominating process that selects losers and Democrats let it happen.

2. Well, there's one democrat we know, knows how to fight Republicans..
John Kerry wouldn't do it and Al Gore got blindsided!

Obama/Dukakis is off this time as Christopher Columbus, discovering America for the First Time!

What chance does he have fighting the Republicans?

3. john edwards?
Oh, yes, all of that time Hillary spent fending off travelgate, Monica, whitewater, health care reform and all of that crap -- having such a hugely negative public record is now an *asset*?. What's next -- Hillary is more electable because she's been through Ken Starr's attacks?

If Obama can handle being cheapshotted, blindsided, and lied to by someone within his own party, he can handle the Republicans. Besides, Barack Obama came from the South Side of Chicago. He can handle himself fine, tyvm.

6. Health care reform is "crap?"
And travelgate, Whitewater and most of the Lewinski thing were crap. Coming from the south side of Chicago means O. can handle the White House? How do you figure, Rush?

7. "Barack Obama came from the South Side of Chicago"...

So did Bad Bad Leroy Brown
Remember what happened to him?
:sarcasm:
Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown

Now Leroy more than trouble
You see he stand 'bout six foot four
All the downtown ladies call him Treetop Lover
All the men just call him Sir

Chorus:

And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog

Now Leroy he a gambler
And he like his fancy clothes
And he like to wave his diamond rings
In front of everybody's nose
He got a custom Continental
He got an Eldorado too
He got a 32 gun in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his shoe

(Repeat Chorus)

Now Friday 'bout a week ago
Leroy shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar
Sat a girl named Doris
And oo that girl looked nice
Well he cast his eyes upon her
And the trouble soon began
Cause Leroy Brown learned a lesson
Bout messin' with the wife of a jealous man

(Repeat Chorus)

Well the two men took to fighting
And when they pulled them off the floor
Leroy looked like a jigsaw puzzle
With a couple of pieces gone

5. a very good chance,
IMO...see I'm not buying the "obama can't stand up to republicans" line. He was born in the early 60s in an all white family, with his father leaving him when he was 2...Do you think he didn't have any knocks growning up?

He's gotten where he is by WHO he is, not by marrying into power or money. He is self made, having to fight for everything he has. I'm sure he's seen more "America" than most of us...

He's not some coddled, wealthy, never-had-to-stand-up-for-himself wimp--so sell that line somewhere else....

12. He ran against Alan Keyes.
Who filed to run while living in another state.

Who became the republican candidate only after the incumbent made Seven-of-nine table dance. (actress who played a borg on Startrek; The next Generation)

Now that was a challenging election. Yes siree.

The one before that he ran unopposed since he had his democratic opponent disqualified by challenging signatures on her candidacy paperwork.

Something that's totally unlike any Republican to do. No siree.

Long story short: whether he can stand up to what the Republicans are gonna dish out without becoming like a republican is not a ridiculous line of inquiry.

Hell - that's apparently what has happened to Hillary.

10. You're trashing Obama? You're calling him a Dukakis?
Well, you're probably right.

He can't even get his advisors to observe basic social rules when being interviewed by the press. Hmm.

13. Not all.
But I have to agree that the nominating process is busted.

Any process that discards Edwards as perfunctorily as it did is not working.

I'm not saying he should have won - I'm just saying that he brought up issues that needed to be addressed that the other candidates aren't sincerely addressing. Maybe they would have better, or more practical answers, but as it is now they needn't bother.

They and their Republican opponent can ignore all the class issues implicit in what they'll agree to discuss.

4. Tellurian what are you basing that statement on?
How do you know that Clinton knows how to fight Republicans? Her "lifetime of experience" as the wife of an impeached President? With her "lifetime of experience" comes a LIFETIME OF BAGGAGE. You think Republicans want Hillary to win because she knows how to fight them? They are terrified of Obama. Get a clue.

9. You're exactly right!
If you think the republicans are not going to re-hash all those old accusations, you're wrong. Everything will come out and new stuff. they can pull out those file folders full of crap they've been waiting to use.

Republicans fear Obama because he has managed to find the voice of the people. When Kerry was swift-boated...there was not the public outrage that there should have been...with Obama they won't be able to get off as easy.

As Barack said in his SC speech: "Nothing can stand in the ways of millions of voices calling for change"....

they should be afraid!

11. Nothing can stand in the way...
Nothing can stand in the way...

Nope. Nothing can stand in the way.

But if you can find the right guy to lead that parade, then you can limit the threat to the-powers-that-be.

Whoever could that be?

Hmmmmm.
