A Funny Thing Happened With Trip Advisor
The last time I used it, I noticed a few reviews that were *obviously* from hotel/B & B owners or their friends. People who made accounts solely to post one glowing review, free of any details but full of hyperbole. Thinking I would be a good netizen, I reported them, just as Trip Advisor said users should.

I don't know if the reviews I reported on were deleted, but the reviews I wrote of two B & Bs (one positive, one negative --> mixed) that weren't even in the same city were. I found that out today when I got a 'please confirm' email for something I wrote up more recently and check my account. Everything except my most recent submission had been deleted.

FYI, I'm not the first person this has happened to:

2. Hmmm. Very interesting.
I think that the opposite is also true - competitors posting very negative reviews with very little detail. I guess I'll get my reviews elsewhere from now on. Thanks for posting.

3. All of my old submissions were there
& I've always received an email asking me to confirm a review that I wrote.

but yeah, I've noticed the shill reviews too, as well as responses from the hotel management teams to bad reviews.
