The most interestingly-located hotel you might ever find
I posted this earlier, but my post got trashed. I won't try to redo it.

Regardless, I was at this place some 25 years ago - 12,000 feet straight up a mountain, only miles from Mt. Everest.

I ordered a coke and sipped it sitting on the deck - most surreal.

As I understand it, Japanese investors were looking to make a retreat at the 'roof of the world', replete with private airstrip and everything. Royal Nepal Airlines nixed it, so it's been sort of an underused but secretly famous spot ever since.

Honestly, I don't know how they could have flown in people and not have them nailed from lack ofo acclimation (altitude sickness) but that's another story;. It's a real trip, though, to climb up this frigging mountain and find a hotel at the topo.

It's a nice enough place, but the elements take their toll, as it sits on a mountaintop not far from Mt Everest.

At least they had some Coca-Cola.
