Houston Teamsters, airline come to agreement on benefits

Teamsters Local 747 has reached its first pilot collective-bargaining agreement with North American Airlines Inc. The agreement will raise wages by 13 percent across the board.

An average annual salary for a seven-year airline captain is $140,000, according to the Teamsters. The wage increase would boost the salary about 18,200 to $158,200.

New York City-based air carrier North American Airlines Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of World Air Holdings Inc., offers air transportation services throughout the world for U.S. military and commercial customers.

The agreement also provides for better working rules and benefits, a signing bonus and job security for the pilot group.
