Dear APRI Activists, Bus Captains & Youth Members:

Congratulations to all of you who wore that "Outrageous Orange" on 10-2-10!

Words cannot express how very proud I was, personally, of the commitment shown by you, the leaders of APRI, in organizing across the country to turn out more than 600 APRI activists to be present at the rally.

At last count, there were 260 youth and 376 adults from APRI who checked in on the mall. We do know that many of you did not get to report in at either of the table locations.....but we saw you ......and all of you looked really good! You held Mr. Randolph's name high!

A special thanks you goes out to Warren Smith and his Jacksonville, Florida team who drove the full distance to the capitol, bringing donated water for our entire APRI family; To the Greater Washington, DC Chapter President, Walter Carrol, and the Greater Washington, DC Chapter youth, who did extra duty transporting and distributing the t-shirts; Mary & Melvin Montford who brought the largest delegation of youth (Johnson C. Smith University, NC Central, NC A&T and a delegation of high school and younger kids); and, Brother James Bryant, APRI Western Regional Rep., who brought a delegation from the greatest distant....California, Washington State and Colorado.

A special note of thanks goes to the United Steelworkers (Fred Redmond, Int'l Vice President & Jamaal Craig, USW Political Dept.) for contributing a bus for the student of South Carolina making it possible for them to attend the rally and for the partnership between the NAACP (Sajata Griddle), SC State Fed (Donna Dewitt, President) & ILA (Ken Riley, President) and our Youth Director, Joshua Jones for the large turn out from the college campus' of University of South Carolina, SC State, Claflin University.

APRI was represented by 28 chapters and 15 states.......what an amazing job done by all!!
