What would it feel like in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newsroom if the company goes through with buyouts and layoffs? Jesse Russell reports.

Nearly 50 newsroom employees tried to produce just that situation at noon on Monday when they staged a short walk out. The unions representing the workers have been in negotiations with the company. Part of the current proposal could see the current staff of 200 reduced by 30. The paper is seeking reporters and editors who would be willing to take voluntary retirement. If 30 employees don’t step up the cuts are expected to come by the end of the week. The two sides have been at the negotiation table for six months and the workers are currently operating under an extended contract. The paper has watched over the last decade as the newsroom has shrunk by nearly 100 employees.
