Communications Workers of America Launches Online Ad Campaign Opposing the Tax on Health Plans

The Communications Workers of America (CWA) today unveiled new online ads opposing the Senate's excise tax. CWA's ads are in concert with television ads aired by the AFL-CIO over the weekend to oppose the tax on health plans that is part of the Senate health care reform bill.

The banner ads, which will run for two weeks, feature women, CWA members, with different health care-related stories. The ads will appear on sites including Roll Call, CQ, Washington Post, Huffington Post, and Facebook and will link to corresponding landing pages highlighting a video of each woman. The landing pages contain a petition for opponents of the tax to sign. In addition, CWA will launch video ads on Hulu.

"The excise tax signals reduced benefits and an increase in cost for middle class families," said Larry Cohen, CWA president. "The House version of the health care reform bill offers alternative methods for funding reform - which do not place the burden on our nation's middle class."

CWA is also running Google and Yahoo keyword search ads.
