"We are baffled and disgusted that any civilized country would grant a convicted mass murderer his freedom, much less give him a hero's welcome," Lloyd Hill, president of the Allied Pilots Association, said Friday.
The government in Scotland released Abdel Baset al-Megrahi on Thursday after he served eight years of a life sentence for the 1988 bombing of a TWA flight over Lockerbie that killed 270 people, including 189 Americans. Al-Megrahi is dying of prostate cancer.
