In hard times, we need unions

Sen. Dianne Feinstein has not yet renewed her support for the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) because of this "extraordinarily difficult economy." This economy, however, gives a new urgency to pass EFCA so unions can freely organize.

Labor unions help strengthen the middle class by guaranteeing a certain quality of life for represented workers. American workers who belong to a union are more likely to receive health care and pension benefits. Additionally, they earn on average 28 percent more than nonunion workers. During this difficult economy, the government should provide security to American middle class and working families by allowing union representation to expand.

EFCA would effectively make it easier for workers to join a union by eliminating many of the tactics companies employ to crush organization drives. Sen. Feinstein, please renew your support for American workers and co-sponsor the Employee Free Choice Act.

2. THANK YOU

But I don't have to work at it near as hard these days. There are now 4-5 regular posters like EBM and DCSmart. It helps so much. I'll be out the next 3 nights. 2 night on union business. It is so good to know others are stepping up to the plate. There was a time when if I didn't post for a few days, we didn't have any new posts.
