Thursday marked the first day of President Barack Obama’s campaign to reform health care in the United States. During the White House health care summit Obama outlined the problems being faced by the country:
: In the last eight years premiums have grown four times faster than wages. An additional 9 million Americans have joined the ranks of the uninsured. The cost of health care now causes a bankruptcy in America every thirty seconds.
On Tuesday of this week, Citizen Action of Wisconsin released a report detailing the impact of the rising cost of health care on Wisconsinites. Robert Kraig is program director of Citizens Action:
: premiums for the average family health insurance policy will be neatly $25,000 per year. It indicates that worker contributions will increase over 106 percent over what they are today by 2016. And it indicates the average deductible which is already over $1500 a year will be $2337 per year.
