Union delays expanding UM strike to Miami International Airport
Union officials said late Thursday they would delay expanding their University of Miami janitors strike to Miami International Airport Friday at the request of Miami-Dade County Commission Chair Joe Martinez, who is trying to set up a meeting between all the parties.

Service Employees Internation Union Local 11 President Rob Schuler said Martinez said he was concerned about the picket line spreading to the airport and the disruption it would cause.

''He's offered to try to broker a meeting between the union, Unicco and the university,'' said Schuler, who said the union would delay expanding the strike to the airport until Tuesday.

''We're available any time,'' he said. <snip>
