Workers at Royal Oak Ford dealership vote YES for UAW

ROYAL OAK, Mich. A strong majority of workers at Royal Oak Ford, a major Detroit-area auto dealership, have voted in favor of UAW representation.

Workers voted 22-12 to become part of the UAW, in an election held in Royal Oak today. The 35-person bargaining unit includes technicians, service and parts workers, body shop repair personnel, and porters.

Were proud to be the first UAW dealership in Michigan, said Warren Dolbeer, a technician with 26 years experience in auto repair, including the last eight years at Royal Oak Ford.

TOLEDO, OHIO An overwhelming majority of workers at Mathews Ford in Oregon, Ohio, just outside Toledo, have voted for UAW representation through a card-check procedure. The 35-person bargaining unit includes auto technicians, service and repair workers, auto body workers and porters. Mathews Ford is the first auto dealership in Ohio with a UAW-represented workforce.
