True or False: Repubs will rush to the polls to keep Dems from winning....
and starting the investigations? Oh my God! We can't have the Democrats investigating the crimes! We must rush to the polls and vote Republican! It will be a disaster for the Republican Party if the Democrats win! Will this be an effective strategy?

1. "If you're not guilty, you have nothing to worry about."
That's what Republican assholes tell me when I question the Patriot Act. They deserve a taste of their own medicine.

2. I am more than sure that the Republicans will be pushing hard for their
base to get to the polls. All the so-called Christians, et all.

But the truth is, I don't think that even if we take back both houses and the WH, that the Democrats are going to investigate the crimes and misdemeanors of the Bush administration. I don't think anyone is ever going to be punished for what has been going on since 2000.

3. Perhaps with the mega-church crowd. Rove or one of his...
evil minions will see to it that every last one of them is bused to the polls. They (the evangelical crowd) comprise about what, 33% of the vote? What the Dems need to be saying loud and clear is that THE COUNTRY WILL WITHSTAND any investigations and possible impeachment. Or in simpler terms, that there's no risk to their McMansions, SUVs, plasma TVs, and Walmart/Nascar "freedoms."

15. Not all of the 33% are christonazis
There are plenty of business republicans that still support him. Who knows if they will vote come November, but the 33% are not all BushBots. I don't know whether or not that makes a difference, but if the business repubs stay home, then we have even a better chance of winning.

4. That strategy will backfire on em
it puts a pretty bright spotlight on self-confessed Republican corruption.
The logic goes... don't let them win because they'll investigate our wrongdoing ?????
That may wash with the criminal core of the party... but most people will flee from it.

5. I don't think so. They all know that we were better off under Clinton and
the Dems. They know they do better every time the Dems control the House and Senate. They may not like the reality but they know it. They voted inspite of the reality in 2000 and 2004. I think they have had enough.

6. False
I think a majority of republicans would not vote rather than get more of this bs. They may not cross over but they aren't going to make it worse. However, I'd run these races as if they were going to rush to the polls. Just my thoughts on it.

9. The local congressional race here can, in my opinion, only be
won if Republicans express their displeasure by staying home. District is gerrymandered past the point of ridiculousness. What arguments should be made to convince the Republicans they have been sold out and their party no longer deserves their support?

11. Just give them the facts
My old mother, always the republican, just can't stand what bush has done in every area. We discussed just last night the responsibility that lies at the feet of the republican run congress. I just gave her fact after fact and it suddenly dawned on her there were no more lies to hide behind.

7. I love it! They practically admit to their crimes by their fears...
There is a movement already. On talk shows, GOP TV pundits are saying that they have to get out the vote - that they cannot let the Democrats win either house - for it means subpoena power and investigations and IMPEACHMENT hearings. Hey! What's to worry about? Your guy didn't do anything wrong...right?

If ALL of the crimes were investigated many frog marches to the Hague would ensue. The only question I have is, how far will they go to cover their collective assets. :tinfoilhat:

10. I don't think so
I think that they know Bush betrayed them and has lied to them for five years.

I think they will take out their anger at being chumped at all Repubs running, especially incumbents that allowed this whole mess to happen.

I think most Republicans will shift the upcoming election to restore a two party system of CHECKS AND BALANCES, because they can clearly see, even in corporo-MSM that ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY!

18. Not ALL repubs will rush to the polls.........
many are as sick of the bush administration and its antics as WE are. The problem is HOW are WE going to attract disgruntled republicans to vote on OUR side when the Democrat's representatives often act just like the republicans, specially when it comes to bowing to corporate america's wishes. I think many repubs will just stay home and not vote at all. Our ENTIRE system of government is broken and it is going to take one hell of a lot more than just voting for Democrats to fix IT. The 'fear factor' is no longer an effective strategy, bushco has cried 'wolf' too many times.

Bush barely won in '04 with about half of the country's support. Now we know that even Fox news reports that only 33% are behind him now and remember that Fox always distorts numbers in their favor so it's probably even lower than that!

If anything, I would guess that many Republicans will not bother to vote. They already know the country is no longer behind Bush or his policies.

and neither can the legislators and wannabes who rode in on the Repuke tailwind.

The 30 Percenters will be out in force no matter what, all frothing at the mouths and spewing and voting for the most hate-filled candidates as all their Fundy preachers have advised.

Other than that, former Repukes and moderate Repukes are probably just as angry at ** as we are , and look forward to some investigations.

22. I would expect to see Repubs putting more distance between themselves & ..
Bush before the November election. It's not about the President, they will say. It's about whether we want to put the big-spending, big taxing Democrats back in power. Is that the gamble that you wish to take? That will be their tack, in my opinion.

But, by November, the GOP base will have been indoctrinated with a list of hoax scares about what will happen if the Democrats take over. A tax on going to church, anyone?

Which, of course, will be a GOOD THING. Or it would be, except for that the important seats will stay GOP due to "stunning upsets" and "come from behind victories" thanks to electronic voting.

26. Apparently the democratic leadership believes this
I attended a civil liberties forum in Woods Hole moderated by
Bill Delahunt (D)MA. Former congressman Bob Barr was there
and Carol Rose of the MA ACLU.

The only question on the majority of the audience was
"When will the dem reps introduce articles of impeachment"

Delahunt admitted, outloud to the crowd that the
democratic leadership won't support impeachment
because they are worried, (I'll translate- Scared shitless)
of Karl Rove.

They believe Karl Rove DOES has the power to fire up
georgie's base to show up in Nov. if they dare
peep about 'impeachable offences' or unlawful actions
by the prez.

They think they don't have to do a damn thing.
That Bush is doing it to himself.

They really do think we are stupid peasants.

31. the party out of power always does well in mid term elections
the exception being the 2002 elections, which were likely influenced by the recent events of 9/11.

the out of power party does well because it's voters show up - and the opposition's voters don't.

there is every reason to believe this scenario will play out in 2006.

and no reason to believe a call for impeachment will do anything but energize the Republican base.

your stupid peasants remark is bullshit

Constitution Under Seige, Says ACLU Panel

By CHRISTOPHER KAZARIAN

-snip-

The forum, sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, featured Congressman William D. Delahunt (D-Massachusetts), former Republican Congressman Robert Barr, chairman of Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances, and Carole Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts

-snips-

When they had finished speaking, several residents began calling for impeachment.

It was a move that Mr. Delahunt refused to commit to, referencing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich who believed that impeachment hearings of President Clinton would win Republicans the majority of seats in the House during Mr. Delahunt’s freshman year in Congress.
Mr. Gingrich’s vision ultimately failed. Democrats ended up gaining six seats in the ensuing election, and Mr. Delahunt said he refuses to place his party in jeopardy by pursuing impeachment of the president.

“I hope in this November election that we impeach this Congress,” he said.
-end snip-

80% of the room got quiet to Mr. D's comment Paul- No one likes politics of fear
