Russia Begins Delivery Of Defense Missiles To Belarus

Belarusian Defense Minister Leanid Maltsau says Russia has started delivering to Belarus missile systems to be used in a joint Russian-Belarusian air defense system.

He said all the S-300 missiles will be delivered by the end of this year. He was speaking after a meeting today in Minsk with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov.


Just curious if anyone knows. What would Belarus need a state of the art air defense system for? I can't figure out who would be considering attacking them. Maybe I am being naive?

2. Belarus is now the defense line against the west.
Nato and the United States continue to work to push back the old Warsaw pact boundary and to surround the CIS. It may be a new era, but none of the governments are really believing the past is indeed the past.
