are university students having a civil war?

two articles came up today that has made me wonder if college students are taking sides in the fight for their universities
------

http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/04/top-republican-blogger-posts-phone.html

Top Republican blogger posts phone numbers of liberal college students on Web site, students say they're now receiving death threats

And what's worse, Michelle Malkin, the blogger in question, who just happens to be the top Republican blogger, is refusing to take the phone numbers off of her Web site, even though the kids in question have evidence to show they're getting death threats as a result of Malkin's actions.

you can read some of the threats

Right-Wing Ivy Leaguers Try to Derail Juan Cole Appointment

The liberal U. of Michigan historian and outspoken Bush administration critic is reportedly close to receiving a tenured teaching position at Yale University. But a group of conservatives, led by a Yale and a Harvard student, are trying to queer the deal by painting Cole as anti-Semitic.

or, are the neo-cons attacking universities? or, both? something is happening. our public education has been destroyed. guess its the universities turn now.

1. Yes, neo-cons are definitely attacking universities.
However that doesn't necessarily negate other possibilities as well.

I'm glad to see liberals fighting back, finally. Now if only we could get them to take the gloves off...

2. Young cons feel like they can get away with anything
mostly because the ones in power do get away with everything.

7. They are full of themselves right now but just wait. I think the tide is
turning on the spoiled little brats and they won't have anyone to go and whine to then except "mumsy and daddy."

6. If she's presented with proof that her postings are causing undue
harm or stress - she has one hell of a civil suit to defend against.

Edited on Thu Apr-20-06 01:05 PM by jsamuel
When truth becomes the enemy of the state as it has under Bush, education is one of the main targets.
