Seems like he would have...to boast about his access.

Mafia guys, before they go to prison, are supposed to make sure they don't take the Don down with them. Abramoff is enough of a team player to know to scrub his office of anything that would spill this scandal outside of its prescribed scope and parameters. Whoever sent the green light to him that he could cooperate with the prosecutor is also the party who nudged DeLay out and is otherwise out there trying to limit the damage Republicans will be exposed to this year.

I won't name names but I'll betcha it rhymes with Bick Baney.
