On my veterans board, most of the guys are what we would call "freepers." These are guys who served in the military and took an oath to support and defend the constitution. However, they seem to feel that what Bush did is ok because "it is for the good of the country."
The question was asked "Why was there an investigation into who leaked Plame's identity but not who leaked the spying story to the NY Times?"
I replied:
Hmmm...let me see...whoever leaked the eavesdropping is a whistle blower, not a criminal. The President is the criminal in this case -- he should be investigated. Whoever leaked Valerie Plame's name leaked information that could potentially cause harm to her and the contacts she worked with -- that person, in my opinion, is a criminal. (He replied)
So the difference between being a whistleblower and a criminal is whether there is a chance of great bodily harm to an American as a result of the leak?
What about American citizens who are saved from harm due to actions of the NSA?
How can the two opinions be different? ---------------
Are these fucking people for real??? The Constitution of the United States means absolutely nothing to them.
