My head is going to explode!! Regarding spying and whistleblowers-
On my veterans board, most of the guys are what we would call "freepers." These are guys who served in the military and took an oath to support and defend the constitution. However, they seem to feel that what Bush did is ok because "it is for the good of the country."

The question was asked "Why was there an investigation into who leaked Plame's identity but not who leaked the spying story to the NY Times?"

I replied:

Hmmm...let me see...whoever leaked the eavesdropping is a whistle
blower, not a criminal. The President is the criminal in this case --
he should be investigated. Whoever leaked Valerie Plame's name
leaked information that could potentially cause harm to her and the
contacts she worked with -- that person, in my opinion, is a criminal.

(He replied)

So the difference between being a whistleblower and a criminal is
whether there is a chance of great bodily harm to an American as a
result of the leak?

What about American citizens who are saved from harm due to actions of
the NSA?

How can the two opinions be different?
---------------

Are these fucking people for real??? The Constitution of the United States means absolutely nothing to them.

1. The difference between a whistleblower and a leaker is who committed the
crime.

In regards to Plame, Plame was not a criminal, nor was Wilson, ergo the leaker is the criminal.

In regards to the NSA spying, the person who ordered it was the criminal, thus the person who revealed it is a whistle blower.

2. They're for real all right. And they're stupid. No ability to logically
think through a premise or an issue.

Dumber than a box of rocks, in other words.

3. How about it has yet to be revealed who they
are listening to... I think there is evidence that the net is wide enough to include political rivals and non-terror suspects. This has been posted a few times... ask them if this is the same power they would want anyone in teh executive branch to wield... like Hillary Clinton, or Howard Dean? That will drive it home that no one should have this kind of power unchecked.

4. Good points you make...
...and no The Constitution means nothing to them. You are correct.

Neither does common sense, decency, or a sense of right or wrong.

These people start with one premise---Junior is infallible. They must
stick up for him and defend his nonsense no matter what the issue.

If Junior decided to come out against the Chilean flap wing fruit bat--
the message boards of America would be filled with Junior minions who would
be flailing and frothing against the Chilean flap wing fruit bat. Oh, we
would hear so much dirt and negativity on the Chilean flap wing fruit bat--
and the media would be asking, "The Chilean flap wing fruit bat:
Is this animal really a menacing devil?" Polls on CNN would ask us to
evaluate if the Chilean flap wing fruit bat should be killed to extinction.

Freepers and their spawning factions do not think. They take positions based
on what Junior spouts. They will defend whatever crimes he commits or whatever
sickening policies he trumpets.

5. how about this: the person who violates a law is a criminal
and the person who exposes criminal activity is a whistleblower.

pretty simple.

and yes, these guys are for real and they are REAL dangerous.
nixon would NEVER have been impeached in this day and age thanks to these republicans-are-always-right apologists.
