(My first topic here - my editor rejected this topic as "too inflammatory)
Why the Sunnis? And why are they the Blue Team? Good questions!
1)The Sunnis “lost” the general election. They are now a political minority. I empathize with them.
2)The Sunnis are secular. Their adversaries have formed a religious majority and will now force the Sunnis to live under a Constitution based on a radical and widely supported theocracy. Right there in their brand new Constitution it says that “no law may contradict Islam”. That means that stoning is legal! Wow, now I REALLY empathize with those losers!
3)The hard-line Iranian leaders support the victorious majority party. Iranians don't like Sunnis but they love the idea of a nearby anti-American ally in the new Iraq. Again, the loser Sunnis are tugging at my patriotic heartstrings.
4)Finally, the Sunnis seem to have no standard bearer. The partisans appear to be on the winning team. The media is always quoting that Sistani guy, or their real radical religious leader, George W. Sadr. The majority party voters love these guys, but I don't. They remind me of the worst politicians here at home. How could I possibly support the Iraqi Red Team?
Well, there you have it. I am a confirmed Sunni man. Loyal to the end, whenever that is.
End note: Any political similarity to the United States is satirical and not at all a coincidence.
