Saw the preview for the Flight 93 movie...really seems too soon...
Saw it when I went to see Inside Man (Which btw was very good). But during the preview, you could feel the tension in the theater. And I have to say, bringing out a hollywood movie on this just seems too soon. It just felt inapporpriate...

Anyone else see it?

2. The families of the passengers approved it
For what that's worth.

5. Great point
if it's not too soon for them, not too soon for me

I love the director (Paul Greengrass) who made the excellent "Bloody Sunday" about the 1972 Derry massacre committed by Britsh soldiers. Can't wait to see what he does with this material.

6. Yeah I know they did...
And it is obvious the heroics of the passengers is the focal point of the movie...

But the whole thing is just too fresh to me. Most in the theater were rumbling and shaking their heads...

I love Greengrass...he did a great job on the last Bourne movie!

3. prediction: utter bomb....
The director will have to get his mother to watch it 20 times. You couldn't pay me to go to the theater for that-- at least not until I'm satisfied that the real truth and the whole truth about the fate of Flight 93 is broadly known. I still have doubts.

12. That's exactly how I feel
I'm not watching some mythologized warm and fuzzy thing until we have the TRUTH about what went down that day, and I'm pretty sure the passengers on that and the other jets would agree with me.

7. I think if the victims' families can bear to have it done, then
it's OK with me. I think that some of the horror of what happened has worn off somewhat and it's a good reminder of what kind of enemies we are facing.

11. Yeah damn Hollywood...
always making money off the dead and exploiting the innocent:

(from the American Film Institute's Top 100 films of the 20th century):

Lawrence of Arabia
Schindler's List
Bridge on The River Kwai
The Grapes of Wrath
Bonnie & Clyde
Apocalypse Now
The Best Years of Our Lives
All Quiet on the Western Front
The French Connection
Ben-Hur
The Deer Hunter
Platoon
Patton
Goodfellas

(and so many more historical/fact-based films to list...)

let me ask....when you read "Red Badge of Courage" did you raise your fist and shout "I won't give Harper-Collins any more blood money!"

13. I won't say it's too soon
Because, frankly, it's been five years. I won't be seeing it though. I saw the trailer on Apple's site the other day, and at the point where the planes slammed into the buildings, I had a PTSD reaction.

Then again, I'm a New Yorker. I predict it will bomb here, just for that reason.
