12. I have to tell you. Here in Colorado the McKinney thing hasn't really

gotten much play. I don't think even mainstream Freepers give a crap about it. I have definitely seen a shift in the meaningfulness of a small Democratic "scandal" versus the daily revelations about this lying, cheating stealing, treasonous White House staff.

I still see a few political drop outs but even in my red state anti bush t-shirts are visible in EVERY crowd and I never see anyone complain about them anymore.

5. He's right--even though Scooter is trying to scoot away from the matter

by claiming that he had the thumbs up, he is no better off than Martha Stewart. I think Scooter feels abandoned, and he's striking out in a fit of pique. This is a shot across the BushCo bow--give me a pardon, or I SING, SING, SING!

I really think that is the crux of it, more than Scooter's lawyers attempting to expand the scope of the investigation, and get bogged down in discovery (though that is part of the strategy, surely). Let's hope the judge sticks closely to the facts of this particular case--that Scooter lied to to Feds. Save the reasons why he lied for the sentencing hearing, as factors in mitigation!!!

The real problem with a pardon, though, is that the cure is as bad as the disease. Scooter gets a pardon, everyone assumes THE WORST. It's a no-win for BushCo. He could maybe toughen it out AFTER the NOV midterms, but this is a BAD time for Scooter to get panicky or shirty--it really hoses up the GOP game plans.

I thought it was a bombshell until I researched the story and read 4 or 5 accounts... here's the summary:

The information did not name CIA agent Valerie Plame, whose 2003 exposure triggered an investigation that led to the indictment of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

So bushco leaked classified info to bolster their case on excuses (I mean justification) for war and then legally de-classified it... and that info leaked had NOTHING to do with PLAME???? Lotsa smoke but there ain't no FIRE.
