Bush Defends Eavesdropping Program

(AP) CHARLOTTE, N.C. President Bush, told by a critic he should be ashamed of his policies, defended the government’s secret eavesdropping program Thursday and said he would not apologize for listening in on the phone and e-mail conversations of Americans talking to people with suspected al-Qaida links.

A man who identified himself as Harry Taylor rose at a forum here to tell Bush that he’s never felt more ashamed of the leadership of his country. He said Bush has asserted his right to tap phone calls without a warrant, to arrest people and hold them without charges and to revoke a woman’s right to an abortion, among other things.

He was booed by the audience, but Bush interrupted and urged the audience to let Taylor finish.

YOU CAN'T TRUST REPUBLICANS
with your MONEY, with your SAFETY, with your FREEDOM

I've just gotta have one of those on my car!

13. Nowhere yet!
I made the graphic on AutoCAD. It's been in my head, so I made that and I hope someone can take the idea and make a sticker of it. PM me if you hear of anyone making it, but ya might want to be careful where you park your car because I expect it might get a chilly reception.

4. Call me a cynic, but...
"He was booed by the audience, but Bush interrupted and urged the audience to let Taylor finish"

...I smell a plant. When has the chimperor ever deigned to respond to criticism of his indefensible policies? Do any of us really believe he could make an argument to an unscripted attack? I suspect "Mr. Taylor" is on the GOP payroll and was instructed to make an over-the-top statement so the chimp could stick his pitchfork into a flesh and blood straw man.

5. Argument in favor of questioner being a plant is that
normally dissenters are escorted out of events by campaign officials masquerading as Secret Service officials.

Still, I'd like to hear from the questioner himself before deciding.

10. I didn't see it (or hear it), so I'll defer to your judgment. However,
anyone who listened to Paul Wolfowitz or Richard Perle sell their Iraqi snake oil has to acknowlege that, while insane, they were articulate in their insanity.

Of course, Wolfowitz and Perle rise above the level of a "plant," but I could imagine Rove&Co seeking out someone from ranks of local Repuke party apparatus.

Or am I being too paranoid?

a great chance to make his little speech about wire taps.
