I am so sick of people being so GD picky when it comes to candidates! Do you really think that everyone has to agree on every frickin issue!!! I watched Bill Mahr the other night on some old video and he was talking about the voter and how they suck. You know, it's true. I hear people complaining about the dems and saying I'm not supporting this one or that one because of this or that. You know what, we can't all be happy about every single issue! I hear people saying that the dems need to stand up about this or stand up about that. We are not there. We truly don't know what we would do. They are in a horrible position. How many of them are wishing they never signed up for this shit? Would we even be willing to go into politics? I don't think I would. I like my life. I like my nights at home watching Keith with my husband and drinking tea. I will fight for this country, but I am not willing to do what they do. Not yet anyway. And I don't want to so God bless them for even wanting to. Can we show them some respect, even? I know many of us here do, but as a society we don't. What does that say to our kids? It's nuts!

The republicans have themselves up against a wall because they can't bend on so many things. Let's use that to our advantage and show them just how open minded we really are! Let's wait and see who is running in '08 and let's promise ourselves to be fair and realistic!


Say what you want about my intellect, but I voting for fricking Mickey Mouse if he runs as a dem and against anybody that has the gall to run as a republican. I won't take their calls in my home and I won't listen to what they have to say. I will question the dem and I will know where they stand on things. If I don't agree I will let it be known to them as often as I need to. I will let them know that I have voted for them because they are a democrat so I do expect them to act as one.

I will vote and support the democrats because these rat bastards have to go!

That has gotten both we the people and the Democratic party into the mess we're in now. Blindly voting for party over issues allows those who are paying attention to control matters to the point where we now have the spectre of a Democratic party that is moving ever rightwards, and a Democratic party who is ever much more responsive to their corporate master than to us, the people who get out and vote for them.

Sorry friend, but voting merely based on party affiliation is foolish. It is our duty as voters to address the candidates stands on all issues, and to choose according to those issues. Brand loyalty might be a good thing in marketing, but it is a disaster in politics. It allows people like Lieberman and Miller to get into power while masquerading as some sort of liberal.

Voting for the lesser of two evils simply means that you're going to wind up with evil in office. Not a good way to run the government. It is time that we started holding our politicians accountable for their positions, on both sides of the aisle. Sure, you're not going to agree with some candidate on all the issues all the time. But if you don't agree with their position on the majority of the positions they hold, then it is foolish to vote for them just because of the D behind their name. All you are doing is voting against your own self interest, and that benefits nobody.

but if we don't get the republicans out we are sunk. I am a dem, I define the party. We need to find a common ground and go from there. The dems, IMHO, are our only hope in the short term. Long term, we need to get busy and claim our party back. I think we are on our way. I know I am much more aware of who votes on what then I ever was. That isn't going to change when the dems get back in. The key will be to keep people engaged so that we have real change.

In the meantime, the republicans have to go.

That all Democratic, and for that matter Republican thinking is short term based, but these problems can only be solved with long term answers. Thus, getting any real change into this party is nigh impossible, and it takes very drastic action to do so. All that blind party line voting does is reward this short term thinking, and doesn't solve the long term problems.
